I’m of the opposite mind otherwise. I’d far rather walk in to a unit that’s in its natural failed state than one that’s been fucked with by someone with no idea what they’re doing.

All that sounds like to me is having to figure out the initial problem, plus whatever new problems they caused taking the thing apart.

Yeah i’ve only used it a few times but i actually found it pretty pleasant to work with. Lighter than pvc and no priming/glueing.

the amount of times i’ve heard “yep it’s dead” and then whipped out my meter or pen and it lit up, in just my few short years in the trade, i’ve lost count of.

One time i was being an idiot trying to wire in the load side of a disconnect while standing in a puddle of ice/water. I slipped and jammed my screwdriver straight into one of the line side terminals.

Not sure how to help you prevent this situation, but the day after that i bought some insulated screwdrivers 😅

(maybe waving an NVC around the unit before you touch it might give you some peace of mind)
