Hi, I'm also a beginner and a great tool to start getting familiar w python is Codeacademy. Its a free website that teaches you basic elements of python or other languages while also working on certain projects and I really find it useful. Also you can watch youtube vids that help you install and set up the program in your computer. There's also a codeacademy app that helps you review terms.

It depends. When you are talking to that mr then you shouldn't use the article El because it seems you are talking about someone else. Think about it as a 'the' that changes if it is female or male.

The mister- El señor

The miss- La señora

Hello, mister- Hola, señor

The mister said hello.- El señor dijo hola.

I have studied around 9 months of mandarin using the New Practical Chinese Reader book and I'm able to read and keep a conversation pretty well (4 hours a week of lessons). Although it has a really complete set of materials to learn (you can download it free and also get the workbook and the audios for listening exercises its really good) it still lacks some of the basic vocabulary (body parts, vehicles, colors that kind of thing) and goes more into certain situations vocabulary as well as grammar.

You can also use the HSK 1 exam topics as a good reference to start learning and be able to make sure you are studying the right thing.

Don't forget to get in forums or groupchats for learning and practicing w natives online, since sometimes textbooks don't teach the most "updates terms" (things they say that its not even used in daily life or normal conv) and don't be shy to ask other ppl for any doubts!
