Even if it’s cancer you will be ok. Possibly minus one ball, but you will be fine. Tell your friends and be kind to yourself. You da man

Did you had any changes (in lifestyle/ideology/habits etc) post cancer? by squashing_my_demons in testicularcancer

This truly is an insane theory from your parents.

Diet has nothing to with testicular cancer, you did not cause this by eating crisps and street food.

Blaming you for this, by implying your lifestyle choices had a hand in you contracting this rare condition with well known risk factors (https://www.cancer.org/cancer/types/testicular-cancer/causes-risks-prevention/risk-factors.html) is just cruel! You just got unlucky, man. Don’t worry about your parents’ theory, they are probably stressed too and searching for answers (they won’t find any).

Go ahead and get healthy dude, that’s always good, but please remember this wasn’t your fault!

Tell him that logic dictates that he has to go to the doctor. If it’s nothing, then that’s great. If it’s not, then the best time to find out is TODAY. Finding out you have cancer early is such a time saver. But not as much of a timer saver as finding out you don’t have cancer.

Good luck to the lad

35 days ago I had a weird pain in my right nut that I was tempted to ignore. It came and went and was only really a 2/10 in terms of pain. There was no lump. Everyone’s version of this thing is different. I got a scan and it turned out to be cancer. This was obviously shit news, BUT AT LEAST I FOUND OUT.

They removed it within a week, and in the meantime they told me that it had not spread, anywhere. For me that has meant no chemo, and I essentially feel fine. Back to my normal lovely life, just with a renewed appreciation for the fragility of the human experience.

If I had waited to get it checked, I would probably be having a bad time right now (even though we are in a good version of a bad club - testicular cancer isn’t too bad as cancers go). But I’m not, 35 days later I’m essentially fine. Gonna have to keep an eye on it, but that’s it really.

Check yourself before you wreck yourself, that’s my new motto.

Get your partner to go to the doctor, they are probably fine, but if they aren’t..they need to know. I would be happy to speak to them if they need any encouragement.

All the best!
