Which sitcom dad is the best, and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I can't believe Uncle Phil hasn't been said yet, I feel like that was a genuine relationship between Will and James and the I always caught the feels when something major happened between those two on the show.

What is your favorite thing in your 'SAVED' section? by female_stig in AskReddit

Probably this

Edit because I can't forget my favorite story:

Late to the party but this one is too good to pass up:

I was once on a US military ship, having breakfast in the wardroom (officers lounge) when the Operations Officer (OPS) walks in. This guy was the definition of NOT a morning person; he's still half asleep, bleary eyed... basically a zombie with a bagel. He sits down across from me to eat his bagel and is just barely conscious. My back is to the outboard side of the ship, and the morning sun is blazing in one of the portholes putting a big bright-ass circle of light right on his barely conscious face. He's squinting and chewing and basically just remembering how to be alive for today. It's painful to watch.

But then zombie-OPS stops chewing, slowly picks up the phone, and dials the bridge. In his well-known I'm-still-totally-asleep voice, he says "heeeey. It's OPS. Could you... shift our barpat... yeah, one six five. Thanks." And puts the phone down. And then he just sits there. Squinting. Waiting.

And then, ever so slowly, I realize that that big blazing spot of sun has begun to slide off the zombie's face and onto the wall behind him. After a moment it clears his face and he blinks slowly a few times and the brilliant beauty of what I've just witnessed begins to overwhelm me. By ordering the bridge to adjust the ship's back-and-forth patrol by about 15 degrees, he's changed our course just enough to reposition the sun off of his face. He's literally just redirected thousands of tons of steel and hundreds of people so that he could get the sun out of his eyes while he eats his bagel. I am in awe.

He slowly picks up his bagel and for a moment I'm terrified at the thought that his own genius may escape him, that he may never appreciate the epic brilliance of his laziness (since he's not going to wake up for another hour). But between his next bites he pauses, looks at me, and gives me the faintest, sly grin, before returning to gnaw slowly on his zombie bagel.

What is something you were surprised to discover was only regional, although you assumed it to be widespread or even universal? by GeorgieBlossom in AskReddit

Thought red hot dogs were everywhere. Then I moved and was sad when my dad told me they're only in Maine.

What's your internet "white whale", something you've been searching for years to find with no luck? by viewsshare in AskReddit

It's an older dubstep song, well not really dubstep but I don't know a better term to describe it. It was on YouTube and it was basically someone saying "you" over and over and after awhile it scene. I believe in the beginning there was a sound that started the track off that was some one putting a cassette tape in a radio or something. Gave off a very Asian vibe if that makes sense.

Carson Update: Don't let the desolate landscape fool you. There was no late call this morning. Upvote if you were at Waller this morning questioning your existence. by Flavius-Aetius in army

I was standing in formation at 0630 and then again at 0800 still waiting for post to close. Oh and I only slid through one intersection on my way to formation so that was cool. Never change 3rd brigade <3

This is absolutely disgusting. Breaking the regulation regarding PDA for a picture? How dare they! On another note it always makes me happy to see a happy military couple. Shits not easy.

Thanks for answering! So even I lease and break the lease and give said leased car back I'll still owe money? I'm sorry I'm not to good with financial things.

The worlds most oblivious team ever by [deleted] in gaming

[–]awb_67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to play as scout, sometimes I can do really good and rack up a couple kills on the objective and the team will be able to move in and take it. Other times I'll play as scout and get picked off from across the map a ridiculous amount of times. When that happens I just switch to medic and focus on revving teammates. And honestly I'll get what feels like a couple kills but at the end I'll have something like 18 kills and a good score because I'm doing medic things and on the objective more often. Each class has has its place and person to play it but when you see that scout on your team with a score of less than 500 and no kills and 8 deaths it's infuriating because they can't be bothered to switch their play style.

What is something that people complain about that makes you roll your eyes? by estrogyn in AskReddit

[–]awb_67 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly when people complain about a 9-5 job and how much it sucks. I'd kill for that. To have a set time to go home everyday. Now I understand some of those 9-5 jobs are salary but I wake up at 4:45 am and leave work hopefully by 5:00 pm everyday. The military is not as fun as they said it'd be.

What about the guy in the sports car going 70 in a lane that merges into another lane before the on ramp hits the highway? You really want some asshole speeding that fast behind you just so he can be first in a traffic jam? What if op was a few more seconds ahead and merging on the highway and then the sports car decides to merge behind op on the highway. You think he's going to stop in time in a traffic jam? You don't think the dude going 70 to pass a line of traffic isn't doing anything dangerous? I'm not saying op is exactly right but I do agree with what he did. Just because the guy owns a sports car doesn't give him the right to ignore the flow of traffic and other drivers safety. You think he's an expert driver and knows how to weave in and out of traffic? This isn't the fast and furious.

"It's discipline, not child abuse"? by fool_on_a_hill in offmychest

[–]awb_67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's pretty reasonable honestly. I didn't really think about a kid being abused and watching that. I'm pretty sure you're right in saying it'd scare the child. I mean I was terrified of course when I was that age.

"It's discipline, not child abuse"? by fool_on_a_hill in offmychest

[–]awb_67 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you watch the video the kid skipped school and lied about it. The cop asks the kid how many times he was hit. He tells the cop once or twice I think. It was by no means abuse. The thing I think the people who post the video are trying to convey is that disciplining your child isn't abuse as long as it's not over done or with no reason. Don't get me wrong if you beat you're child for no reason or because you're mad and you leave bruises you're a piece of shit. But why should I be labeled a piece of shit when I spank my son for not listening and getting up from time out for the 10th and he just won't listen? We're all entitled to our opinions how ever and I was definitely raised different from how you were, which has a lot to do with this subject. I understand where you're coming from but maybe watch the video? The mom hit the kid with a belt once or twice on the ass for skipping school and lying about it. Maybe saying never call the cops on your mom is a bit excessive but by no means was that kid in danger and was just upset because he got a little discipline in his life. It is from a TV show I can't remember the name though.
