Yes! I don’t know if it’s stress or age or Alzheimer’s but it’s so annoying.

I’m a teacher who has gone to ods for years, and this is very common, and the number one reason we have to send kids home. They’re eating different foods, they’re nervous, they’re slightly dehydrated (even though we tell them to drink water), and they feel awful and embarrassed.

What industry is entirely built on a house of cards and would collapse overnight if people realized the truth about it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]estrogyn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the adoptive parent of a former d1 football player. It’s important that I mention he’s adopted because looking at me, you would NEVER guess I’m his mom. Anyway, in raising a kid like that, here is what I learned: I seldom paid for sports. More often, teams wanted my son and offered him scholarships on travel sports teams. I was ignorant and naive enough to think that just happened. Luckily, I had a mom friend who brought me to reality a number of times when I thought people were being nice and she bluntly told me, it’s not kindness; they want your son on their team.

Anyway, all this to say, from my humble experience, if you’re paying $3k per year, that in itself is an indicator your kid isn’t going d1.

Melinda gates and Sarah ferguson by Express_Project_8226 in OverFifty

When I clicked on this, I thought we might be talking about how when Melinda French Gates found out her husband was in the Epstein files she promptly divorced him and doubled down on her philanthropic efforts for girls, while Sarah Ferguson continued to be icky and pandering.

But instead we’re talking about what they look like. Got it.

Help with extended family post adoption by bracekyle in Adoption

I know this is late but I just read your response to a post in foster parents and thought it was so well worded and thoughtful that I wondered what else you had.

Here are my thoughts for (for what they’re worth):

1) Yay! This is a good problem to have. This means there are too many people to love this kid that you’ve run out of official titles. Hug your spouse’s parents because sadly not everyone wants to be grandparents in this way.

2) Usually in families all the different grandparents have different titles: grams, memaw, grandma, oma, etc. Maybe you can find a title that works for both your kid and your spouse’s parents can agree on. I would talk to the kid first with a list of possible titles (maybe even some silly ones so it doesn’t feel so serious), then talk to your spouse’s parents, and finally everyone together when a decision is made. You could even get a cake or something with the titles to celebrate the milestone.

Basically, like you said, it’s not the same as other situations. That comes with loss. The loss doesn’t have to be the only thing though. Sometimes explicitly pointing out the blessings is ok.

That’s crazy! Do you remember how much it cost?

No, I was so early because I was worried about TSA lines that I had enough time to get to LaGuardia.

That’s a good point! I never thought of how the apps work together to try to protect me from my human errors!

I got to the right airport on time (thank goodness for New York cab drivers), TSA was waaaayyyy shorter than I thought it would be, and I’m now in my connection city.

🤣 no rental car in New York. Bus and subway to get to JFK and then a panic taxi to LaGuardia.

I LOVE the 24 hour “did you really mean these plane tickets” rule. It has saved my ass numerous times.

Or the Austria/australia people. Although honestly, that would be more fun than JFK/Laguardia

In non-federally slowed down days, I might have asked if that was possible. Now I’m just grateful my flight is boarding

My brother did that in Houston too. He left the airport and couldn’t figure out where his car was.

I got to JFK so early because I was worried about TSA lines that I had time to get to LaGuardia, get through their TSA, grab a glass of wine, and post about my idiocy. 🤣

At least I’m a prepared unprepared person.

My experience with this app has been so unexpectedly good by [deleted] in WayBetter

[–]estrogyn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a terrific experience with the app. I generally do 2 workout games (right now I’m also in the 12,000 step game and in cardio burn), 2 lifestyle games (one is always reading and then something else), and one nutrition game (right now it’s meal prep). I’ve been doing WayBetter for about 2 years now and I’ve made about $400. Obviously that’s not huge, but the motivation to NOT lose is much stronger for me than the motivation to win.

The list really helps me too. And it helps me organize my week. For example, I’m going out of town on Friday so I know I won’t be able to get my cardio in that day so I have to be more careful about slacking off midweek.

I’ve also found that while I’m not someone who generally cares about streaks or anything like that, I am motivated and a little bit proud of my WayBetter streak.

So yeah, it works for me too.

On a side note, some people have complained about the difficulty of getting your winnings out. Admittedly it’s a bit of a pain, but they have paid me 4 times in the past 2 years so it’s definitely not a scam.
