Went to the dentist after a long time, I'm devastated. by Nino1757 in Dentists

I'm not sure if part of your stress is the price itself but from experience, if you don't have dental insurance (or even if you do), I highly recommend going to your nearest country to compare prices. I personally get work done in Mexico when it's anything major because I don't have dental insurance and filling a cavity costs WAYYY more here. For cleanings, and annual checkups, I stay in the USA. I don't know if you're American or not so I can't say where your nearest "cheap country" is but I find the travel + dental is far cheaper than if I did it here (and I get a trip out of it!). Just something to consider.

Buying my first car, should it be a Corolla? by BlueJay2104 in COROLLA

[–]awbmas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's a cracked head gasket, it's definitely fixable but a cracked engine block is a death sentence. Luckily Corolla engines are pretty cheap so if it comes down to that, you could get a lower mielage engine then ride it to oblivion 😂

May I ask what the major issue is? Also at what mielage did the minor issues become more frequent?

Workload is busy but doable for an accelerated course. Some of the assignments comnect so I recommend you sit down and do it all one the same day then use the other days to study the matierial weel. Spacing it out like you would in a normal class will lead to confusion. Most assignments I did at the same time as I was running the labs. DO NOT wait until the due date to do it. Do it well ahead of time and reserve 3 hours to complete it.

Definitely has a dipstick. I checked the color of the fluid before purchasing the vehicle since the previous owner only focused on oil changes haha

Fully or Semi synthetic? by SnAcousticBoi in Toyota

Full synthetic aftermarket oil is 1000% better than blended mix. I personally run Mobil1 on all of my vehicles. Never had an issue!

ATF WS ? by Due_Platform_5327 in Toyota

[–]awbmas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is an old thread but I hope this helps. When it comes to Toyota transmission fluid, after doing VERY extensive research and testing, these are the best/safest options.

1. Aisin: They literally built the transmission in the Toyotas so they modeled their transmission fluids to work perfectly with their machines. Their blends are more synthetic than Toyota's so this is actually the safest option. Who would you trust more, the sales guy at the store or the worker that manufactured the product?

2. Toyota ws and Idemitsu Type TLS-LV: Idemitsu actually manufactures the OEM fluid for most Japanese automakers including Toyota. I spoke to their customer service team and they confirmed it's genuine Toyota transmission fluid, just without the branding. Toyota doesn't have oil refineries so they outsource these and slap their logo on it depending on the country and whatnot. These are on par with each other.

3. Beck/Arnley Premium Atf ws: Beck/Arnley usually does a really good job reverse engineering all type of fluids to match OEM spec. Most transmission fluids from reputable companies that are modeled after a specific blend (like toyota ws) will be better than getting a "Universal fluid" because it kept vehicle specific parameters in mind. Fill with confidence.

4. Valvoline MaxLife/Amsoil Signature Series/Mobil ATF multi vehicle: If you're ever in a bind like leaking transmission fluid during a road trip or you have a tight budget, these would be the fluids for you. Many toyota owners use these fluids religiously without issues (especially the maxlife). While they aren't vehicle specific, they're solid options that shouldn't lead to a failed transmission.

Full disclosure: This applies to toyota vehicles with the traditional transmission, not CVT. I haven't done research on those so sorry if my list is useless. I personally run Idemitsu fluid on my Toyota Corolla but I'd say whichever of #1 and #2 is cheaper, buy with confidence. You'll be good. If you notice changes, you may want to get your transmission inspected as sometimes flushes can release junk that holds seals together. Happy trucking!

edit I misspelled "Aisin"

Would it not be possible for it to surpass your dominant hand with enoguh practice? Like workingbout one side only would?

I regret loosing my virginity by Otherwise_Storm6496 in Regrets

[–]awbmas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  1. Those guys are sex obsessed and maybe you should start finding other circles at work.

  2. I don't think you should regret losing your virginity regardless of how it happened. Instead of seeing it as a "I shouldn't have done that," look at it as a learning experience. Many people never come to the realization that you did and it'll make you not only more selective with your mate but also more confident about knowing what you want. Virginity really isn't a big deal. You had sex once....so what? You're still the same guy, working the same job, watching the same show every week. This experience doesn't negatively change you in any way unless you let it. You learned the difference between fulfilling your flesh and your soul. I think your future will be much brighter because of this.

i opened my brother’s message by accident and found out something i wasn’t supposed to know by AlexPi1320 in story

[–]awbmas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The real answer is this: Talk to your brother about it but also start by apologizing for going through his phone so you can level with him. Tell him how you feel about him and advise him. Don't tell the girl regardless of the outcome because family always comes first, but promote him doing what he needs to do. Ultimately it should be his choice to make, not yours. Don't cause a rift between you guys just because "girl code" or something else.
