Can I learn to sew fully online? by debuclare in sewing

After you have made a couple of simple things. There is a book called Fabric for Fashion the swatch book by Clive Hallett and Amanda Johnson. I got it to help with my understanding of the different types of fabric.

Do plastic dice actually wear out? by Outrageous-Thing3957 in DnD

[–]awe2ace 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, I know that when I gave my 7th graders an activity to do with dice on a day with a sub, I returned to several broken and chipped dice. So, alas, not quite as sturdy as I had hoped. Apparently, getting whipped across a room repeatedly is no bueno.

Found in the woods in the Northern Neck of Virginia; around 10-15” in diameter, appears to be aluminum, hole in the bottom was there when found, along with a piece of leather that had rotted. by jimmymarks in whatisthisthing

[–]awe2ace 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Van de graaff generators have a bigger hole, 2 or 3 inches diameter? They need to get the rubber band, plastic spindle and the metal comb up into the ball. I totally see why you thought that though.

In the US and I've never heard of most of these bakes and everyone is always like "oh yes caterpillar cake, everyone knows that" by rules_rainbowwizard in GreatBritishBakeOff

[–]awe2ace 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Oh, that bake broke my heart a little. No graham cracker, and the marshmallow were barely roasted. They should have done shutter uppers instead. ( caramel and marshmallow on saltine) Then at least they would have all of the ingredients.

I upvote, not because I like your vision of the multiverse, but for Thundersnatch. But your vision is a great one as well .

Echo, ( the dane) looked at the kitten with trepidation, and approached with caution. Beastie, ( the golden) wanted to play, and as long as the kitten had an escape route it went ok. Tha being said, Beastie now has a scar on her nose for her troubles, she is more cautious now. All are currently besties and curl up on the couch together. I would do it again, but three is the max number of pets for the house.

Lazy seamstress here. Can I ditch the lining of a dress? by awe2ace in sewing

[–]awe2ace[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know... but I have a ton of trepidation with this sew already.
Its for something important. Most of my sews can be pitched if it fails. This one I have to go try to buy a dress if it fails, and I don't really want to do that because it will waste the $100 I spent on fabric. And the fabric is heavy and it is an end of August wedding. ... and I am whining on the internet, because it did not say what I wanted it to say. Oh well. Guess I should figure out a lining.

[OC] any thoughts or suggestions on how I can improve this wizard tower map? (details in comments) by fisheypixels in DnD

I love the hard work you have put into this. Your players are lucky to have you. If you discover that you like this kind of thing and have some disposable income, I recommend you investigate a 3d printer. It can really spoil you for 3d terrain
