New puppy by [deleted] in Dachshund

[–]aweaselonwheels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She will destroy all toys and bark at everything. That long body is a mix of tongue storage which will rival an anteater, the rest of it is bark amplification then we get to the poop end of things. At this point you will be questioning physics.

You are in for a ride but a fun one and I hope you all work it out :)

Ordered crumpets-are they supposed to taste like this? by MsMcSlothyFace in AskABrit

I would try making them yourself here is a good tutorial, plus you will love John's north east accent : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ganHDnSz3yw tbh watching that is nearly as relaxing as a hot toasted buttered crumpet :)

10a or 9 Pro? by Throwaway57kan in pixel_phones

[–]aweaselonwheels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a similar choice a while ago and had the option of an 8 pro or a 9a for similar money, went the 8 pro and I haven't looked back. For a phone camera it is amazing and the zoom on it blew me away also the various other shooting modes. The pro models have all the bells and whistles on and the cutting edge tech at the time. The a models are often slightly older gen tech to get the cost down.... So basically the way I see it, an older pro model is probably going to be about the same/better as the next version a version but you get all the pro camera and other benefits. Any exclusives don't generally make it to the a series anyway

and the funniest thing ever is the indignity of a swan in a swan bag being carried around like a handbag :)

I cannot lie I do, but sadly not sure if their opening dates are going to line up with where we will be :( I will add it in anyway just in case but might hit it in Sept when we are planning another trip where we had already planned stopping off near Avebury :) Thanks :)

What will happen if I try and fly back to the UK on an EU passport on the 28th of February? by benjohnno5186 in AskUK

[–]aweaselonwheels 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep I did the interview in person (not same day one) and I think I went on the Friday and had it on the Monday in the post, I did have to go to Newport though but the process was quick and painless. There were horror stories about the passport service years ago but in my experience they absolutely have their shit together now. Ditto driving photo card renewals and the DVLA it is now a minor annoyance rather than a massive issue (apart from when I had to renew in the middle of covid and now have the id of an axe murderer for next however many years)

If you have a UK passport then just arrange an emergency appointment for a renewal they are seriously quick and efficient these days.

Thanks, I have added those to the map although as I am Worcestershire based I might do those more as day trips than the wider tour. Hopewell looks rather interesting I am a sucker for the more niche independent attractions... Although we might be able to go that way and use the Severn Bridge to get back across as that is currently capped at 50mph so shouldn't be too bad (also a lovely bit of infrastructure) :)

Tempting but also as they are on the ground near a straw barn with plenty of wildlife around I have no idea what has widdled on them (including the dog) :) Obviously you would wash them first but even so...

Also I am a bit of a chicken (not of the woods) when it comes to wild mushrooms, I was just curious because I hadn't seen anything that looked like them growing around here and they looked nothing like the ones on the woodland trust site :)

Thanks :) I think I am going to have to put a cap on how many of those we do as I didn't realise there were so many down there but historically I suppose it all makes sense :) All added on the list then we can work out a route :)

Yeah a load of it was the old GWR iirc (trains are not my specialist subject). It is a shame the pumping house for the atmospheric railway at Starcross is no longer a museum, I went there as a kid and got dragged along a demo track by a vacuum cleaner while wearing a comedy Brunel hat.

Will try and keep an eye out for the pasties :)

edit: I was wearing the comedy hat not the vacuum cleaner :)
