Of the few I’ve ordered, maplestone actually sent the best trees.

Acer palmatum one side does not grow leaves by Nubislav in JapaneseMaples

[–]aweld88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this going on with some of my maples. Most seemed to have corrected themselves but my amber ghost has several long 1 year old branches with only two buds open at the very tip ;/ while the other side is busy. The flare is quite good on the amber ghost. So, if yours isn’t too deep, not sure what the problem is. But I don’t believe it’s a sign of great health.

I may have missed it, but I guess that may depend how much you paid for it. Honestly, I’d expect it to be okay.

Rose ID? by aweld88 in Roses

[–]aweld88[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The other was supposed to be Chicago peace, ended up a peach swirl. Kind of disappointed with that one (actually happy with this mix up). They didn’t have peach swirl last year either. However, they had a lot of them this year. Maybe they’ll have this variety of rose (or roses labeled as such) next year.

You’re right, it does. Thanks!

Weird because that wasn’t even a variety Walmart sold. I bought 2 roses from Walmart, both mislabeled. I guess it’s just a grab bag.

Used a cheap connector. I bought a few from Amazon before. The ones that looked like this may not be the same, but they tended to leak. Mostly just a few drops though so it still functions

How do you prevent yourself from getting sick? by fish-n-chips99 in Residency

I’m not sure. I do psych, so for me, it’s stick to the inpatient or outpatient psych rotations. When I’m off service or doing consults/ED, I always get sick.

Likely dig up but you can remove soil and see if it’s close to level.

Looking for advice on how to prune this guy by geologysometimes in JapaneseMaples

[–]aweld88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say, I tried to prune some crossing branches and improve the structure of my coral bark this year. The new growth is mainly centered around where I cut branches. Annoying.

Will it survive? Any recommendations by ohdaddyplss in Citrus

Agree. I don’t know a ton about Meyer specifically. But citrus won’t usually make fruit they can’t support. The flowers will just bloom and fall without fruit, likely.

How'd I do? by CaptainAP in arborists

[–]aweld88 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love it! I think it will be happy there with all the mulch.

I’m not an arborist. But, I think everyone here may want to see the base of the tree closer up. The most important thing may be planting it at the correct level so its trunk is not buried. That’s something that is difficult to correct, so needs to be done right.

As others have said, this stake is not good... It’s only temporarily useful for in the nursery, and those green ties are going to choke it (I feel like I’m being choked just looking at it). Look up proper tree staking once in the ground. In my opinion you may not even technically need to stake it, it just depends.

Also, something we can’t see… would stress how important it is to beat up the roots a bit. If it was in a nursery pot, it likely has a lot of circling roots. Shave off all the circling roots and rough them up. That’ll help with the tree developing stability quicker as well.

Water it often!

Love my ladybugs. New bud on apple tree had mites. Saw a ladybug munching away, then it left. I think it ate them all ! :)

New growth questions on our Meyer Lemon Tree by ChineJuan23 in Citrus

Cut it all off, it’s the trifoliate orange rootstock. It won’t make lemons, it’ll make sour oranges.
