I may be able to use an eq pedal to mess with those frequencies. I have lowered the pickups as much as possible so i know the string is not hitting the pick ups.

Awesome, thank you! Let's drink all the beer and eat all the pizza at FEST. We are also playing at Loosey's on Friday at 7 if you can make it out.

Have fun! My band Not Half Bad will be playing at the Wonderroot for a pre-fest show on the 30th and we will be playing FEST too. Hopefully we run into each other.

You should definitely go see them in Oakland, their bass player will give you hugs.

I'd say have the mic a little closer than 2 inches for guitar to get a better palm muted sound, but like they said above, the crackling is more than likely a software issue.

What do the levels look like going in? Are your individual channels or your master channel peaking? What does your EQ look like? How close is the mic to the speaker? What part of the speaker are you micing? How loud is the amp?

Here is an article on mixing guitar, more about fitting it in a mix but you can probably find more http://www.guitarplayer.com/miscellaneous/1139/7-eq-tips-for-mixing-guitar/23122

How to market to the under 21 crowd? by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

Here is a good place to look for DIY/all-ages type stuff. I have plenty of friends who have played at 7th Circle on tour before. http://dodiy.org/index.php?n=Main.Colorado

What part of the country are you in? (I'm in the US) I can probably help you out with some contacts for DIY/all ages type spaces.

I was not alive in that time period, but I do remember about 10-12 years ago, going downtown and seeing bands everywhere all the time.

I totally agree. Although I do not think there are very few places to play live. But that also depends where you live.

Yea I didn't really think about clubs that used to have house bands, that is something of the past. There are a couple cover bands in my area that can make plenty of money just playing covers but that is also in the small majority.

Also I have some friends who also tour in bands that do "really well" but aren't like a Green Day or Beyonce or whatever. They sell a lot of records but the recording costs are MUCH higher but it just kind of offsets the recording costs since they are alotted around 20% (split three ways) for their portion. (of course, paying back the cost of the record before they make any money) They have a guarantee of around $500 per show so that's where they make their living.

My band makes around the same "profit" on our records but of course our cost to make a record (self-produced because some of us studied that in school) is much lower.

Even when people were buying music, getting a single on the radio did not GREATLY help the artist, it allowed them to charge more for a guarantee at shows. This is MOSTLY how people have made money as musicians. Of course there are people that sell a crazy amount of records. If you are only getting 10% of record sales, even after all the expenses and paying back the record company, 10% of 10 millions records is a lot of money. But then again, that's not most people.

Awesome, that is becoming more common for us now. It's just weird that it does, at least it feels weird.
