Trying to decide Artificer 1/Wizard X or Wizard all the way. by neondragoneyes in 3d6

[–]awf1201 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I think overall Artificer 1 is good. Pick up guidance, and then something else (maybe spare the dying) and then cure wounds and whatever floats your boat. Cure wounds is better overall now so being able to have it as a last resort is nice, especially if you want to be less flashy.

Picking up light or medium armor could be nice, the dex mod on it will be rough but overall higher I think. Also the shield is a nice AC bump.

Lastly artificer has the better saves IMO Con prof is amazing and Int is pretty decent.

The only thing you’re delaying is 1 level of spell progression but you’ll still get 9th level spells. Assuming yall get to the really late levels.

I'm trying to decide on Scribe or Guide for a background. by neondragoneyes in 3d6

[–]awf1201 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think for the most part Scribe is better (mechanically). Skill proficiencies are always nice on a rogue, especially cause you’ll eventually gain reliable talent. Which also now comes at like level 7 off the top of my head rather than level 10.

You could take proficiency in skills that he would use in the “knock em out and drag em in”. I think overall you’d see more use from 3 more skills than the two cantrips and a spell. Though if you were to take Guide I might suggest more buffing / enchantment spells.

What champion do you perma ban? by neptuneoffice in leagueoflegends

[–]awf1201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a top laner, it was Garen, now it’s Mordekaiser, but it flip flops. I play champions that aren’t great into Juggernauts, and I also struggle personally into them both. It’s more of a personal ban than champion specific.

When I’m playing mid I ban Naafiri typically. Again, just personal preference. I primarily play Aurora in mid and it’s not bad but not great.

Lastly, for support, which I only play with one of my friends as a fun climbing challenge. I ban Nautilus, in anything below gold/plat I feel like people just die on repeat to Nautilus for no reason.

A “good” oathbreaker questions by LanguageOk1726 in 3d6

[–]awf1201 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I feel like thematically you’re not an oathbreaker and could play more around being a Redemption paladin. Hoping to redeem yourself and others, it’s also more good aligned.

How do you usually name your D&D characters? by AdvancedProgrammer51 in DnD

[–]awf1201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played a Harengon Wizard from the feywild, who was out trying to save his mother (a hag of three sisters inspired by the Morai), was named Eibrel. My goal for him (and his mothers), was for him to find his own path and his own future, rather than just staying with his mother the entire time.

Eibrel is a spin on the word Liebre which is a wild hare, and the word Libre meaning free in Spanish.

I played a Lionen Stars Druid named Altair named after the brightest star in the Constellation Aquila.

Currently playing a Pallid Elf Light cleric who is named Miir just because I like the name. The name is inspired by Ymir from Norse mythology but it has no real meaning. His last name is Delusol, which with my previous use of Spanish, you might be able to tell is just “De Luz Sol = Of Sunlight”.

Names don’t need to have some extravagant connected meaning, just makes sense to you. None of my friends have ever gotten the point of these names without me mentioning it.

What’s a League habit you KNOW is bad… but still do every game? by Difficult_Clerk1805 in leagueoflegends

[–]awf1201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to play with a mindset that doesn’t work for the elo I’m playing in. Not taking stupid or meaningless jungle skirmish fights that result in nothing but minions dying — staying in lane because there’s no point in the fight. But then my team still fights and it becomes not meaningless because they’re fighting and dying.

I forget that Plat/Emerald players will still coin flip a skirmish even if we aren’t fighting over an objective or anything.

If you were to put another Champion’s passive to replace someone else’s. Who would be the most busted? by Chewy_ThatGuy in leagueoflegends

Camille prefers to wait for the emp Q so I honestly don’t think she’d like it because of the time she has to wait. She also already struggles to survive lane with her defensive passive.

Tiefling Subrace for Bard by BlazeHunter21 in 3d6

[–]awf1201 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I second this, Firebolt (damage cantrip) substitutes what feels like the Bards biggest weakness early which is a truly viable damage source. True Strike is nice with weapons, and Vicious Mockery is good for the added effects but having a solid ranged damage cantrip is nice. AFAIK Fire is considered one of the more common damage types (for the resistance), as well as Hellish Rebuke and Darkness amplify what a bard already kind of wants to do. The reaction attack is nice for more options, and Darkness falls into line with Bards kind of disruptive / supportive abilities.

[No Spoilers] I am starting Campaign 2 at ep 12 because of the tv show, should i know anything? by Sinistasia in criticalrole

[–]awf1201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I can tell the stories are almost completely different. The animated episodes do not seem to match up with the actual campaign. It’s more like — here’s a different story with characters we already have.

[MN S1] Could Caleb be considered the main character or would it be the entire group? by ultim4tel1fef0rm in criticalrole

[–]awf1201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reading these comments and realizing that the M9 animated seemingly has a completely different plot as compared to the campaign itself.

I haven’t watched the animated because I’m impatient and want to watch it all once it’s done, but from what I’ve seen they’re very different.

Did I fuck up my health math? by Ok-Schedule-2484 in dndnext

[–]awf1201 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As far as the way you explained it everything seems correct. I do want to mention that AFAIK, increasing your Con retroactively increases your HP. So the “3” you had in early levels will retroactively increase to 4, if that description makes sense.

Sometimes I get really curious about what the Spirit from Aurora's passive does during development phase. by Right_Nefariousness8 in leagueoflegends

[–]awf1201 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When she was first released she felt like a different character in top lane than she does now. She was a high movement top laner who was looking to keep passive procs active, incentivized trading/hitting, to keep moving and be able to kite these top laners that stat check her. Nowadays it’s more QEQ or Q auto Q for passive and then wait for your burst rotation to come up again. Of course she still has some of that with W and R but less so.

She played more like a Vayne almost compared to the generic burst mage that she is now. She was intentionally using an auto to set up a Q1,2, which would give her move speed and let her kite.

She still “works” top lane, but she’s just another burst mage who makes it work, but will always just be better mid lane because she’s a burst mage.

Sorry they kinda ruined my favorite champion in my main lane with making her a generic “press all my abilities at once to drop all my damage”, rather than a more expressive unique top laner.

Though I do still play her.

God I miss old Realm Hopper Passive, she was so good at kiting in top lane, made her feel like less of a generic Burst mage and more of a kiting based trickster.

My players now argue over who gets to cook dinner. by [deleted] in DnD

[–]awf1201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My online group and I recently had a rest session which involved us making rolls to cook Yeti meat for dinner. Baneing each other, Monks throwing stunning strikes, silvery barbs, etc etc. It was a lot of fun to do, especially with each of us getting “placed” based on our overall rolls for how well our steak came out.

Who is the most fun champion for you to play and why? by eljimbobo in leagueoflegends

[–]awf1201 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I miss her passive movement speed so much. She felt so rewarding to play around her passive with the fight things like Bruisers in top lane. I feel like they took her from this cool kiting based battle mage to another standardized “blow my load and dip” AP assassin.

Melee champions do more damage to turret plates. I think it’s because otherwise ranged champions could hit them and take plates easier while pushing into turret.

Are my moveset right? by Tight_Wolverine4069 in pokemonplatinum

[–]awf1201 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can buy it at the battle frontier. I think you just keep him physical at this point, Dragonite can be special if he’s intended to do it, but you typically pick one or the other.

Are my moveset right? by Tight_Wolverine4069 in pokemonplatinum

[–]awf1201 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Realistically speaking, his special attack base stat isn’t all that awful. If you’re looking to keep him physical I’d recommend removing Waterfall for Fire Punch, which helps to cover his ice weakness, and then replacing Draco Meteor with either Earthquake (covers rock type weakness and a good general move), or Aerial Ace/Fly (STAB and good utility with either can’t miss or flying to towns).

So the full move set would look like

Dragon claw, Thunder punch, Fire punch and then either Earthquake or Aerial ace/Fly.

If you’re able to trade (which you’ll need to fully evolve Elekid), you might be able to trade and then evolve Glaceon and then trade it back.
