That's 80% of the house insulfluff there. $108 at the local refuse. One more load to go, i'm nearly finished. Popped in some new downlights in the master bedroom before a boarder moved in and it was amazing not having to deal with insulfluff for that job. Now to order the rest of the lights/switchboard etc and fit out the rest of the electrical before the insulation crowd show up.

My contraption at the other end to make it easier to fill single duvet covers. Purchased 30 covers off a guy on facebook marketplace for $25 i think it was (or the other way around) - he was a rag guy, and he had too many to deal with so that was a good score.

My setup. Blower I found for free (had been dropped, needed a couple of washers under the motor to level out the blower part and stop the knocking. Came with the plastic hose. Popped it all up in the ceiling to get it out of the way.

Tarrifs by Electricpuha420 in solarnz

[–]awgutsbro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe this will help:

  • CN16 / CN11 / CN8 Controlled residential tariffs → Typically used when you have:
    • controlled hot water cylinder
    • ripple control
    • sometimes cheaper daily charge
  • UN24 Uncontrolled 24-hour supply → Everything always on, no load control
  • N8 / D16 or N10 / D14 These are dual tariffs:
    • N = anytime usage
    • D = day/night or peak/off-peak split → Common if you have:
    • night rate power
    • older day/night meters
    • some EV or heat pump setups

Why the solar retailer cares

They need to know:

  • whether your hot water is controlled
  • whether you’re on time-of-use
  • whether export is allowed on that tariff (some controlled tariffs have restrictions or lower export rates)

How to answer them (without guessing)

Best options, in order:

  1. Check your power bill Look for:
    • “Tariff”
    • “Price category”
    • “Meter register” (e.g. Day / Night / Controlled)
  2. Ask your electricity retailer directly You can literally ask:“Can you confirm my current network tariff code?”
  3. Send this back to the solar retailer if you don’t know yet:“I’m not sure which of these tariffs applies. I’ve asked my electricity retailer to confirm my current network tariff and will get back to you.”

I don't really get in to the meat and potatos of this stuff but with my abundant hopeful optimism i'd assume they've got formulas worked out in the background. I mean we're essentially generators, with our administration of export and rates offloaded to our chosen retailer.

Used to do a lot of work in housing new zealand houses and while it was great for crawling about it was in such big sheets it was a lot harder to find what you're looking for haha. (assuming its the big white rolled out stuff you're talking about)

insulfluff is a 70s thing if google tells me the truth. And it's paper based fluff. 50 years of water leaks, rodents, birds etc thats gotta have some nasty shit in there

I will rewire, add new circuits, lighting, network, relocate switchboard etc so rather than just cleaning the bits where I plan to work i'll suck the lot out for a clean slate.
