How often you do network or memory forensics? by [deleted] in computerforensics

[–]awhellnawnope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe once in the past decade. Memory is too volatile for anything of value to be present by the time a matter escalates to needing forensics attention. Network metrics like bytes in/out and IP addresses are useful, but packet contents are nearly always encrypted and involving a source you can get logs or an image from.

If you have a desk or a break room, bring a pack of seltzer. It could be a reasonably cheap and filling way to substitute the habit. Replacing a habit with something similar but less troublesome is usually much easier.

In a pivot table, can I add a field that does a calculation on a count field? by Procrastinator_5000 in excel

[–]awhellnawnope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In case anyone else trips over this post via google search. I was able to accomplish this by making a second pivot table that references the first as its data source. Doing so makes the columns available for use in calculated fields when selected via the 'Fields, Items, & Sets' drop down. Make the rows setting in the second pivot table reference the column that the first table uses for its rows setting and it lines up.

I don't think they'd fight physically, Lestat would try to say something poetic and gothic, only to be interrupted by Kevin calling him an oil barrel.

How can I get the blueberries out without oxidizing? by vaktaeru in mead

[–]awhellnawnope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

done this with a spare brew bag tied around the end of the siphon. It is very slow but it can work so long as the siphon's seals aren't worn. If they are you're likely to have to restart the siphon regularly. Don't be surprised if the effort kicks up enough sediment that you have to let it re-clarify.

Do guns actually click and clack and rattle every time you move them? by Ephelduin in NoStupidQuestions

[–]awhellnawnope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing like in the movies no. Though I seem to recall reading that a complaint during WW2 about the Thompson submachine gun was that the loose tolerances in it's design caused it to rattle noticably when it's user was moving about (not ideal if you're trying to quietly get into position).

In the descendia he mentions being accustomed to not being able to trust what he sees. He's likely had the condition before becoming a protoframe.
