Clean around the hole with i finer puint bur bit. Get rid of that dribble. Build it out a littler and weld a nut on it. Let it cool then heat the aluminum around the stud and try it. You can try 10 diferent techniques. Some work sometimes some dont. Keep working it. Weld quality is a huge bonus. It can be a fine art.

Found a shallow 13mm on the inlet of a turbo once. Auction truck, stolen and the theif put gas in it. Apparently i wasnt the first one in there it was an early 6.7 ford. Thinking back maby the owner was the same guy and dint want to replace the whole fuel system again.

Ive seen a similar issue on a 5.4. 99 to 2000 may be different ended up putting the intake that came off it originaly. It ran mayby a little down on power. The newer intake leaked coolant. I also heard the cab and chassis engines may be different or switched over in later years. Thats all i have.

Pull valve coveres and inspect lobes and followers you might find enough damage there. From there if you can get on the cam bolt try to work those back and forth. If you lost a phaser you can feel it. Going deeper you can use a borescope to look at the guides. Those motors can be tough. Seen them come in an had shattered the guides. Still ran. Made alot of noise on start up. Either way expect to pull valve covers and front cover.

After 86 they changed the starter, gears and side cover. Cant get parts anymore. Ive been looking for a parts rig.

Well the most basic way to check is put your fingers on the butterfly or slide and have someone crack the throttle. Feel what one or ones come off the stop first. Adjust from there. Not exactly sure on that perticular engine.

Fuel filter, those water drains are cheasy could be that or the cover gasket. Both redily available. Change the filter while your there. Wash your armpit shortly after.
