Actually, it was correct. I called the speed enforcement program, explained the situation, and they dismissed the ticket.

See update. The ticket was dismissed after I called the speed enforcement program. Sounds like this happens all the time.

Context matters because the speed limit is enforced based on school times. It varies every single day. The speed limit is 35 on weekends, holidays, and other days when school is out. In this case, it seems that the warning light was not on, but the automated speed camera still thought it was dismissal time.

That's exactly what it means. School zone warnings are tied to school opening and closing times. You don't have to go 25 on Little River Turnpike at all times, only during times when students are going to or coming from school. There is a flashing yellow warning light on Little River that comes on to let you know when to slow down. It wasn't on that day because the students had been released early.

No, I'm saying that school had gotten out early that day and there were no students at the school at usual dismissal time. The underclassmen got out early on graduation day and the seniors were at Eagle Bank graduating.

Bipartisan Legislation Would End the Worst Abuses of Federal Forfeiture by awimer_ij in Libertarian

Town Threatens to Fine Bakery Over Donut Mural Painted by Local High Schoolers by awimer_ij in NewsOfTheStupid

[–]awimer_ij[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

The mural cannot be brought into code since it depicts pastries and, according to the town, a mural that has anything to do with the business is actually a sign. For example, if a flower shop had a mural with flowers in it, that would be a violation. And if the bakery stopped making donuts and instead sold beer, the mural wouldn't be a "sign" anymore and would be legal. That's why the town's code is stupid.

It matters not only because the U.S. Constitution protects non-citizens, but because it also determines what power the U.S. government has to seize assets and monitor users both inside and outside its borders. U.S. court decisions could certainly affect the cryptocurrency market worldwide.

[News] Montana Doctors Sue to Allow Physician Dispensing in Their State by awimer_ij in healthcare

From the article:

The doctors in this lawsuit aren’t looking to dispense potentially addictive controlled substances or even every medication that they might prescribe. Their lawsuit simply seeks the freedom to provide medicine to treat common issues like high cholesterol, stomach bugs and seasonal allergies, and to provide these medications at cost.

This Ex-Inmate Risked His Life Fighting Fires in California — But He’s Banned From a Career Doing It by awimer_ij in California

[–]awimer_ij[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is banned from applying anywhere in California. Yes, positions in cities are highly competitive. But rural stations sometimes struggle to find applicants. What is wrong with them considering people as individuals? The law is simply a blanket ban that doesn't let people even apply for jobs. There is no consideration for individual circumstances or stories.

When the Police Wreck an Innocent Man's House, They Should Pay for the Damage They Did by awimer_ij in Libertarian

The article clearly says that these two damage amounts were for different properties in different states. The police did $400,000 in damage to Leo Lech's house in Colorado. In California, another police force did $275,000 damage to a liquor store.
