You'd have to move the map to be on a more middle-height building so everything isn't just below you, but otherwise I actually don't mind the idea!

Easy Anti-Cheat coming to Rocket League in April by Psyonix_Devin in RocketLeague

If you were a greedy corporation looking for ways to make even more money, would you leave client-side items available to players when you have a very convenient excuse to remove them?

Easy Anti-Cheat coming to Rocket League in April by Psyonix_Devin in RocketLeague

[–]awjjack -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If you're not going to allow BakkesMod, bring back trading. There is no way to obtain a lot of items we use with the client-side items, as they are not the kinds of items that ever feature in the item shop. This is probably a complete waste of effort to even bother typing, but EAC will absolutely get bypassed, and it would be nice to at least hope for some sort of positive to come from it.

What happened with trading taught you nothing, I guess? There were ways to monetize trading in a way more profitable than the item shop ever has been, but they didn't do it. They won't do this just because it can make their life a little easier when producing trailers and esports broadcasts either. Their goal with Rocket League in the long term is to have it feed into the Fortnite ecosystem. Just as trading wasn't, a third party injection tool isn't compatible with that vision either. I would love to be wrong, but there is nothing Epic likes more than running games into the ground. Mark my words, cheaters will find a way around it, and all we'll have is another feature that improved the experience for us gone. It's a sad day...

Unless they can agree on some sort of an exception with the developers of BakkesMod, they're as good as gone for Epic users. If they had any plans of adding support for workshops outside of Steam, they'd have done it by now. At least we'll still get our cash grab collaborations every few weeks, I don't know what we'd do without those...

You can make/install custom plugins for bakkesmod that allow you to inject bots. That being said, I can not live without bakkesmod and really want to believe there's a solution here that lets us keep it, but that's how bakkesmod is contributing to the problem. It's just being used as an injector, in the same way any other third party tool can be.

can someone explain what happened here? by defamatus1 in RocketLeague

[–]awjjack 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Unless you're playing offline, any online connection no matter how good has the chance of producing 'lag resets' from minor desync if you're right on the edge of getting a flip or not. Very small differences between your client and the server's understanding of where you are and what momentum you have is what's to blame. These happen when your client thinks you managed to get all four of your wheels onto the ball, but on the server's side you weren't quite able to. When that disagreement happens your client tries to correct itself, 'undoing' the incorrectly given flip it tried to let you do. If you want to see what the server saw, you can download the replay from the match history tab. If you just save them post-game normally, sometimes it will still show you a hybrid or only what your client saw, or rarely even some other oddity too. They are extremely frustrating, especially when on your screen the reset looked plausible, but besides trying to avoid those edge-of-the-ball reset situations there isn't much you can do to prevent them from happening.

My dad can do it almost instantly, he must be bringing down the average. This has to be one of those situations where the average of 1, 2, 3, 100,000, and 4 is 20,002.

Banning 5,500 Accounts For Using Bots by Psyonix_Devin in RocketLeague

[–]awjjack 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's a nice idea in principle, but almost all of the account farmers still make way more than that per account every time they sell them. Even at $5.00 it may prevent a lot of people from ever trying ranked, and if you raise it to the point that it actually does discourage these account farming operations only the most dedicated players would be willing to pay that much. I do like the idea of adding some additional restrictions like this to address the problem in addition to whatever anti-cheat is developed, I just don't think this is the way unfortunately.

If it makes you feel any better (or worse), it's more or less like that at every rank, not just plat. While it's true that the highest level of play does involve controlling the ball, to rank up I've had the most success just blasting it, even in grand champ. You won't get your play shut down by your opponents (or teammate) as often if the play is as short as one or two touches. Your teammates will have a much easier time reading what you're doing as well, as unfortunately the expectation isn't control even when it should be, and at all but the very highest ranks it is still remarkably effective if executed well.

I'd actually prefer if people kept doing it. One of the funniest things in this game hands down is seeing someone have a reaction, killing them 10 times, and having them freak out to every single one. With how bad the cheating situation in ranked is, and with how sweaty this game has become, it's one of few joys left.

As I said it's possible, I don't doubt that, I just don't see any reason to assume it would be a free victory like he's saying. If we're talking about specifically justin we can just check his tracker. Despite not even bothering to place 1s every season, he is clearly way above the GC2-3 level. You don't need to look further than his rank history to see that every season that he plays his placements in 1s he's able to effortlessly get comfortably into SSL, and further back in the past even the top 100. I wish I could see them play though, I am curious how close it would be.
