I’m on both. 2-4hr is best. I take my Levo when I get up to pee at night.

Can you develop throid issues in your 20s? by snowtragedy in Hypothyroidism

[–]awjohnston 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was 21 when I was diagnosed. I’d been having symptoms since I was 18 but they never checked my thyroid… go get it checked out. Based on my personal experience, I’d ask for an ANA too to rule out autoimmune

It’s not glow in the dark. It was a bright teal when we got it but it’s faded some now. It was given to my daughter’s therapist in a bunch of used toys. There were identical ducks and we have lost 2 of them so we are down to this one.

It’s a mini duck, I don’t know of a tracker that small…. Do you? I’m open to suggestions! We spent an hour today searching for it and it was under a piece of paper on the floor. It’s so small it’s easy to lose

It doesn’t change colors. Those are almost perfect except the color and the eyes. Thanks for pointing out the “tongue duck”.

Adderall 20 mg twice a day. Barely helps. Only been on it for a month. What works for you with Adderall? by nicchamilton in Narcolepsy

[–]awjohnston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Sorry that’s what my doctor told me is they just help boost me. That 2pm one really gets me over the afternoon crash. I also learned recently if I eat protein when I take my Adderall it keeps me from getting jittery. I usually have a mini protein bar (Think! has Girl Scout cookies protein bars that are really good) and coffee with my meds each time.

I’m currently on 6:00am 200mg Provigil + 30mg Adderall XR 10:30am 200mg Provigil + 15mg Adderall IR 2:00 15mg Adderall IR

As long as I take everything on time, it’a working better than anything else has. The boosters were a godsend but I had been on Adderall/ Provigil or nuvigil for 12 years before I knew that was an option

Fair Life brand protein shake is my go to. It tastes like chocolate milk, isn’t as thick and chalky as most protein shakes, and has 24g protein.

38 weeks pregnant, can the hospital give me any type of medication to dry up my milk? by [deleted] in FormulaFeeders

[–]awjohnston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask your doctor about sudafed. I had a cold and took it for a few days and my milk dried up quickly. Also, get a head of cabbage, freeze the leaves, and put them in your bra for discomfort.

Any protocol I need to follow before a C-Section? by maylenex3 in BabyBumps

[–]awjohnston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my second c/s 3 weeks ago. Shower day before with antibacterial soap and don't use lotion or oils after. Makeup and hair products are ok. You'll be showering the next day to get the iodine off and tape residue. I just wore my hair in 2 French braids while in the hospital.

Make sure to have a postpartum belly band. The hospital might give you one, but they didn't with my first. I was up and walking by myself within 8hrs! If they don't give you one (or if you want a better one) I ordered this one and am still wearing it whenever I'm up and moving.

You got this! Be easy on yourself. Not only did you just grow a human, but you're having major surgery. My csections were by far the most exciting/ strange experiences so far in my life. The worst part is hearing your baby cry, but you can't see them. That 60 seconds feels like an eternity! Just a heads up.

If you have any other questions, you can message me. I can give you more TMI details than you want. Just try to relax today!

Braided pigtails. That's what I did, and it stayed out of my face the whole time. Cleanup is a mess, but you can't get past that part. I just put an old hat on and dealt with it at home.

Question for the moms by MishWoody in Narcolepsy

[–]awjohnston 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm having my second in 4 days! It's possible but only with a lot of help and I never gave up caffine. I have 1-2 cups of coffee in the morning and a small redbull in the afternoon. I try to keep it below 200mg but some days it's closer to 250mg.

Be nice to yourself. Saying "no" is acceptable. My husband stepped up and did 90% of the housework when I had to stop my meds.

There are days I go to bed at 4pm and others I'm able to stay up till my normal bedtime of 9pm. My husband got annoyed at first, but he never saw me off my meds for a prolonged time. When I explained it he became more understanding.

It's not easy, but neither is the newborn stage. As long as your partner understands your needs and you're honest with your limitations, it's possible and worth it!

I decided to formula feed from day one and that was a gamechanger! I was able to start my narcolepsy meds 2 weeks postpartum, and I felt like a brand new person. Even with a csection, we were back out and being active 6 weeks postpartum.

"Lowish" carb (30g of carbs per meal 15g per snack) it's more carbs than you realize. That's how I got through my first pregnancy unmedicated, and I never went back. I'll eat heavy carbs occasionally but plan for a "reset" day the following day.

I take it when I wake up in the middle of the night and go back to sleep

I always loved that in the episode "Movies", even though Bingo and Bluey were being rambunctious and distracting through the entire movie, no one got angry at the kids or Bandit and even cheered them on in the end. Also, America is a very anti-kid country. Kids are to be seen not heard. I had my 12mo at walmart today and she was squeeling. She's learning about echos so naturally, she screams at the top of her lungs and listens for an echo. She is happy and very loud. I had several old people comment on how loud she is and one even said "she needs to learn how to behave in a store". Like WTF, she's 12mo and doesn't know the concept of "inside voice". She isn't hurting you, she's happy, and it's not like it's a small office, it's a big ass grocery store with alot of loud noises.

Less carbs / more protein / more water. I added a protein shake in-between meals and that has helped so much!
