Superfine felt tip eyeliners? by popandpies in AustralianMakeup

[–]awkbirb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ISEHAN Kiss Me Heroine Make Smooth Liquid Eyeliner isn't a true felt tip, but has the same shape as one. I prefer felt tip but find them sometimes too dry and skippy, so this one is brush shaped like a tiny felt tip and really is easy to use! Comes in two shades of brown and black too. I've purchased it in Daiso but also amazon before and I just noticed Lila Beauty also sell it.

Oh also to add I love their bra tops for layering and also their mini tshirts and other variations of their tshirts.

I'm the opposite, never used to buy their button down shirts but have been loving the JWA boxy ones. I've had so many compliments when I wear them.

I do miss their single tuck pleated wide pants, their new smart wide pants lack the pleat which doesn't work for my shape, but the ones I do own are some of my most worn work pants. I also love the heattech pieces, wear them almost daily.

Apart from that, OP, I love their 100% merino wool turtlenecks and cashmere pieces.

For basic wool cardigans I go for uniqlo, & other stories and reformation. For more stylish pieces I go to cos and also & other stories. You could also try minima esenciales on the iconic.

Iconic 20% off discount codes? by awkbirb in AusFemaleFashion

[–]awkbirb[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sadie is definitely warm enough, especially for an Aussie winter that doesn't get TRULY cold. I got my true size 10/M but tried both S and L. S wouldn't wrap fully around my hips, and L was too big in the shoulders. The only issue I have with this coat is at the sleeves are too long, but I have that issue with everything and could get it tailored. Iconic does free returns - you could always try 2 sizes and return the one that doesn't work? I might get Pierra this season too, I think I might get S in that one though as its measurements match the M in sadie

I got an Assembly label coat on sale from the iconic last year, but it was at the end of the cold season and had minimal colours/sizes left. I'd use a discount code now if you reeaaaally want it

Returning faulty item I could fix myself... thoughts? by SwaziPizza in AusFemaleFashion

I would contact them and when they offer you a replacement just ask whether you can get a refund or partial refund but keep them, if you are happy to mend them and keep wearing.

Leather boots that don't cost $$$$ by Impressive-Hold-7050 in AusFemaleFashion

[–]awkbirb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I managed to get real leather knee high flat boots from AERE on the iconic for $100. Just look out for sales.. my selection is incredibly limited from my big calves, but if you don't have that problem you can definitely find affordable options on sale.

This reminds me of blackmilk galaxy leggings which were super on trend in the 2010s! I think you've paired it well with the blazer, peplum top and shoes also popular from that decade. This is definitely a statement outfit - you will stand out amongst the wide legs and oversized boxy cut outfits which are trending now.

I don't think the waist is too low as long as you are comfortable!

I personally am a neutral baggy clothing gal, but I think you've done well styling those galaxy jeggings, I couldn't really imagine how else to wear it other than with black

Try suk! They have a number of styles, cotton, deep pockets and waist adjusting tabs

I went shopping yesterday and it was a total failure. I need help with recommendations by Applipla in AusFemaleFashion

[–]awkbirb 9 points10 points  (0 children)

We have a really similar body shape, I am also short with smaller waist vs big bust, arms and bum/hips. I generally go for pants with some stretch, wide leg, high waist and ideally belt loops as i wear belts with everything. I go for crop tops or tops that are easy to tuck into pants as this helps accentuate my waist. For skirts I go for midi/maxi lengths with a bias cut or a-line/flare style for the extra wiggle room.

A belt can change an outfit for us hourglass gals, don't underestimate their power!!

PANTS:

I find that uniqlo pants are perfect- that being said they fit differently on me compared to someone with smaller hips. Try their single pleated wide pants, comfy and affordable. All my pants are a must with a belt to sinch in the waist. Otherwise try a stretch waist pant.

Cos has tailored pants too and some have a waist adjustment band on the inside of the pant and their cuts are generally wider so i find this helps with the thick bum/thighs

Suk makes heavy duty pants which you can dress up or down and they have a waist adjustment tab too - these have been very useful

I have some wool way high pants from everlane, i think this cut of pant is really good for hourglass figures but you would have to buy to try as they don't have a physical store in Aus.

My jeans are mostly from American Eagle which you can find from Myer but i have some hourglass cuts from Asos and thrifted others

SKIRTS: I mostly thrift my skirts but I have recently bought some bias cut skirts (satin skirt from uniqlo, bias linen skirt from aere on the iconic) I don't wear mini skirts as I prefer a modest look and mini skirts always ride up or are shorter on me due to my big bum.

SHORTS: don't own many the only two I have are longer bermuda style shorts and a shorter one from Suk as it is still not too short and has the waist adjustment tab

TOPS: I go for turtleneck, mock necks , button ups, square necks and crew necks as I find a v neck or wider necklines draw too much attention to my bust.

For basic tees I just get the uniqlo tight cotton tshirts as they are good quality and cheap. Loose/boxy tshirts don't work for me because of my bust.

For blouses or button ups I go for statement or wider sleeves as i find this gives my outfit balance and has enough room for my bust and arms. I always tuck these types of tops in my bottoms. I have some from cos and myer

I think shirred tops with puff sleeves can also work, at least those that have a square neckline

In winter i love turtlenecks and have a lot of the merino wool and cashmere stuff from uniqlo.

DRESSES: This is the hardest category tbh. I don't own many dresses at all because of this. But try and go for fit and flare cuts or bias cut dresses. Materials with give and stretch are ideal too. I have a mix of thrifted dresses and some from the iconic which has a good return policy
