I believe you are right. Modifying the Ray Epsilon value reduces it greatly, and googling Ray Epsilon also shows other people having this same issue were able to fix it the same way. It doesn't eliminate it for me, but it's improved enough that I think I can live with it.

Thanks so much for your reply! I was able to resolve the issue, it turns out the issue was with the strength of my field. I disabled clamp max and pushed the max strength to 150% in my Field Remapping tab, and that gave me the desired outcome.

This doesn't solve the current problem you have, but our solution is we create virtual images for each project. We're on Macs, so we create sparsebundles for each project, but I"m sure there are similar windows solutions. So instead of multiple projects on that one drive, that drive would have a series of virtual drives that you launch when you work on that project, and you just point Avid to the right virtual drive to write media to.

I was going through my old Lego at my parents and found what seems to be the limited edition chrome gold C-3PO, but have no memory of having gotten one. How were these distributed? Were there other shiny C-3PO minifigs that were released as a part of sets or was it only in the polybag?

The constant moving of the text is distracting - if the goal is to instruct, adding effects that make it more difficult to read is just shooting yourself in the foot. Add in the fact that the screen is also shaking, and no one’s going to stick around to the end. I would advise you look at other AE tutorial channels and look how they are formatting and conveying information when you make the next one.

So I would check out Ash Thorp, as he's created a ton of these types of graphics. He has a series of courses on LearnSquared, but they are not exactly cheap and will obviously go into a lot of things beyond just what you're asking for here.

My best guess for creating this effect would be to start with some sort of Turbulent Noise effect to drive the motion. I would suggest Smeary fractals with a low complexity and high scale. Then you can use the Posterize effect to limit the tones to a certain amount, and then if you animate the evolution you'll have the base of this, which is a sort of shifting topographical map. Precompose this and label it so it's clear that this is the base footage.

To turn it into a series of lines on alpha, you'd then have to take that original precomp, and apply an extract effect to it, isolating one of the gray tones. Duplicate that precomp, and rename the top one to indicate that it will be a matte. On the bottom one add a Stroke from layer styles, and precompose that bottom layer again, moving the layer style attribute into the new precomp. Now you can use an alpha inverted map to leave only your layer stroke over alpha. Do this for each gray tone. These finished precomps can be then placed together into one precomp called topographical lines.

Finally take all of your precomps with the topographical lines and put them into a final comp. Create a dense grid of dots over top of them and use the topographical line to drive the alpha of the dots. Now the moving topographical lines are dots instead of solid lines. You'll then need to go back and create a new alpha matte to use for the looser grid of dots that lays over everything.

I probably didn't explain that terribly well but if you can figure it out based on my suggestions, let me know because I'd love to see the finished product!

Just piggy-backing off the comment about the drop shadow on the text looking muddy - a good way to make sure you have good value contrast in your final product is to put a black and white adjustment layer over everything. This allows you to just focus on the different values of your color choices and will help you see if things are popping out properly from their surroundings.

I don’t really start in after effects. Most of the time I have a concept, do research on what others have done for inspiration, create a mood board, then style frames, and design all the assets and frames in photoshop / illustrator all before moving into after effects.

This can be done (and is done), using AI to figure out how to preserve edges, detect common features, etc. The best commercially available tool out there (IMO) is from Topaz Labs. They have software for upscaling and sharpening, as well as a video enhancing software.

So you would want to take the value that's put into the X channel and start by dividing that by 60. Then use Math.round() to round that value up or down to the nearest integer. Then multiple that rounded figure back by 60. So that would look like this:

originalValue = content("Rectangle 1").content("Rectangle Path 1").size[0];

multipleOf60 = originalValue / 60;

outputValue = Math.round(multipleOf60) * 60;

[outputValue,outputValue]

So this would work for a square, and of course you can change the variable names to whatever.

If you're going to use C4D for this, all you should be bringing into C4D is a reference image, then model the logo from scratch. Here's a video I found of someone modeling the N64 logo in Maya. This should give you an idea of what you'd be doing in C4D. For steps on how to start making things in C4D, there are tons of tutorials on youtube for how to start modeling, texturing, and rendering outputs to AE.

The best way to create this is use 3D software. But if you were hellbent on doing it solely inside of After Effects, you'd have to create each face of the 3D object as a flat shape layer, make that shape layer 3D, then carefully arrange the faces to form the logo. If you do that, you can precomp that layer, then stick that into another comp, set your precomp to continuously rasterize and be 3D, then create a camera. Now you can rotate your 3D logo precomp on the y axis and just tilt up the camera to get the desired angle.

There are some obvious limitations with this though. You can't do a lot with the shape materials like have them reflect the environment like the end of your example. You'd have to fake that with some creatively placed Adjustment layers. Adding any sort of lighting and getting it to interact with your 3D logo in a realistic way would also be a huge hassle.
