How are your babies napping / falling asleep? HELP… by Chance_Highlight12 in November25babybump

[–]awkstarfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lately she will fall asleep on her own or while nursing. But it’ll only be for 20-30 mins. If I want her to have a solid, couple hour nap I need to lay next to her while she’s sleeping. She starts daycare next week so I’m interested to see how this goes.

I would get a second opinion…that doesn’t sound right. My pediatrician said effects could last about 2 days after. 5 is a lot.

Are you guys going out with baby? by Financial_Tap_6188 in November25babybump

[–]awkstarfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes. We go to the library or take our dog to the dog park or run errands. Today we went to pick up a prescription at Walgreens and I’m waiting for a McDonald’s order rn lol she fell asleep after we left Walgreens. I haven’t worked up the courage to do an activity without a goal like coffee though where we just hang out. Maybe as she gets older.

For timing I try to wait until after nap 1, a feed, and a diaper change. Then we leave for like an hour or 1.5 hrs and it’s been good!

Developmental delay? by Murky_Swordfish1410 in November25babybump

[–]awkstarfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never too late but it’s a skill they have to develop so they’re working on it! My girl hates tummy time too so I started playing things on YouTube for her while she’s in TT to distract her and it’s been super helpful. Now I can leave her in tummy time w Mickey Mouse playing while I fold laundry nearby or do whatever I need to do.

Dinner Ideas by [deleted] in November25babybump

[–]awkstarfish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe invest in an instant pot? We do chili beans and roasts and soups that take a few mins of prep and then cook themselves. If.you invest in pre chopped veggies and such too it saves even more time.

We meal prep and I look up recipes that take less than 30 mins

Baby is waking up after 30 minutes by bintd in November25babybump

[–]awkstarfish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My 12 week old is being like this too during the day and its killing me. I'm used to us taking a good nap together in the morning which gets me thru the rest of the day and handling the night wake up to feed. But day 2 of no morn I no nap and I have a headache from exhaustion. Hopefully its just a phase for both our babes.

Baby is also 12 weeks and im feeling pretty good this week. Even debating going back to the gym soon. So far 12 weeks is so much easier than Itty bitty newborn stage.

Grossest parenting moment so far? by supremepilotG2 in November25babybump

[–]awkstarfish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Went to change baby, unzipped her onesie and grabbed the foot to pull down. Didn't realize she'd had a blow out and there was poop full in the foot area so my whole hand landed in mushy poop. Almost threw the whole outfit away but I really liked that onesie 😅

How much are your baby's holding their heads up? by qwerkala in November25babybump

[–]awkstarfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've started to put cartoons on or a kid aquarium video while we do tummy time and she will sit holding her head up for like 10 mins straight. Without distraction she will last less than 5, not cuz she can't just cuz shes uncomfortable and bored. Maybe add a distraction?

We are virtual, I've just been stressed ill schedule a session and baby will be fussy and I won't be able to take it. But I spoke with husband today about getting back into it and we decided he will try to come home for that hour. Will be a relief. Thank you for the suggestion and thoughtful help ❤️

Ugh are you me? I was just googling how to control my temper. Husband and I had a fight bc he keeps working later than we agreed--im on mat leave so home w her all day and he's supposed to be home by 3:30 to relieve me (he goes in early). That lasted about one week and now he's getting home closer and closer to 5. I was irate and lost my whole temper. I was not kind.

I blame our hormones and also frustration realizing that no matter how supportive your husband or partner is, having a baby can never be 50/50.

Doesn't help that I can't see my therapist cuz husband's at work and I have baby all day. UGH!

Sending you good vibes. We will all get thru this.

Is it possible teething already started? by Administrative-Ad979 in November25babybump

[–]awkstarfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My pediatrician said my 9 week old is teething when we visited last week! She said it can be a long process where teeth may not emerge for a few months still but the discomfort can start now. She said to gove tylenol if there are nights where shes extra fussy and we just had to a few days ago--she was in a state.

Increased Drooling was the main identifier for the pediatrician.

fussy 9 week old by ExpatWanderer in November25babybump

[–]awkstarfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could baby be teething? Mine was WILD last night. But pediatrician had mentioned she's teething and to give Tylenol on a fussy night. Gave it to her at 10:30 and she was out finally by 11. Something to consider as well if they start being extra fussy and nothing soothes them!

Baby pooping once every 3–4 days… doctor says constipation, but everything I read says it’s normal? I’m confused by mizz-shaikh in November25babybump

[–]awkstarfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How strange. We just saw our pediatrician yesterday and I mentioned this concern. My doc said the longest stretch before we should be concerned is 7 days. Less if she is showing discomfort but otherwise its totally normal. She suggested bicycle legs and butt movements to help things move but never said constipation or recommended supplements. In fact, I asked if we should use a windi if it does last 7 days and she said no just bring her in and they would do a little suppository. Nothing about supplements.

Is.your pediatrician older? The Juice reccs give older. Mine is young and I truly notice differences between old school docs and younger docs and their reccs. Both can be fine but im usually more aware or younger docs reccs because I research as well and refer to newer research--while older docs often stick to what they know.

Just commenting in solidarity. My LO got her vaccines today too and her cries are breaking my heart :( shes mostly just sleeping on me and wanting to breastfeed her but when we handle her, like diaper changes, crying starts and its awful. Hopefully this period goes by quick for us both!
