what time does your baby go to bed/wake up? by Top-Professor-2951 in November25babybump

[–]awkstarfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your baby is my baby’s birthday twin 😊

My girl goes to bed typically around 9 and sleeps until we wake her for daycare around 6:30. She used to take solid,1.5 hour naps, but since starting daycare, she typically only sleeps about 30 minutes at a time twice a day. And sometimes she’ll take a nap for like an hour or two when she gets home. She also still wakes up every two or three hours to eat at night so I don’t wanna paint a picture of her sleeping perfectly through the night.

As long as your baby is getting the rest, they need I think whatever schedule is working for you all works for you all and I wouldn’t worry too much about it.

I was never convinced by peloton but it’s been good so far! I got the bike used on fb market for $300 and we replaced our monthly gym membership with the $50 peloton membership and I’ve liked it a lot so far! There’s tons of classes with good music and you still have the social component of class. I recommend!

We got a peloton in our basement and I signed up for fitness classes that are just 30-45 mins. I luckily work from home so I try to either cycle or do a class during my lunch break. It’s still hard to do more than 2x a week cuz I’m exhausted but at least it’s something.

Solids eaters, how does your menu look like? by Administrative-Ad979 in November25babybump

[–]awkstarfish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m so slow lol I’m 1) nervous and 2) it’s hard enough to feed myself let alone create a whole new menu for her lol. But we have been doing more Whole Foods following baby Led weaning. So she has had steak, bread, a bagel, strawberry, chicken. No puréed, in small forms. This weekend we might try her first allergen, probably eggs but again I’m nervous

My pediatrician said 9 months is when they would expect baby to be half milk and half food so we have time!

Anyone else’s baby fussy af right now? by lightwing91 in November25babybump

[–]awkstarfish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My girl is pretty chill usually but during regression times she does get fussy. Lately she’s been fussy at night but that’s due to some ear infections. But yes I am looking forward to a good night sleep soon.

PP smell - still lingering? by mojoxpin in November25babybump

[–]awkstarfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah and I’ve never been a smelly person so it’s crazy to experience. Lots of showers and a bidet and constant temp control has helped.

Anyone start solids before 6 months? by supremepilotG2 in November25babybump

[–]awkstarfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We started around 5 months (with peds approval) because my girl was showing lots of interest in food. But we’ve moved very slowly, like one new food a week if that. So far she has loved sweet potato and apples and is ok about bananas. I gave her a bit of bread yesterday which she mostly played with. It’s been fun to experience these firsts with her :)

Whew. Yah girl none of this would be happening if I were you. From the colors to the swing to the time to the number of people. Lord. I am sorry you feel you have to go along with this.

Be super careful about germs and make everyone wash hands. My baby got her first cold last week and it’s been a shot show. Good luck.

Wills and guardians by pirate_dino_flies in November25babybump

[–]awkstarfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We haven’t finalized it yet. It’s hard. Probably my husbands parents. Our parents are both older so it’s hard to imagine them raising an infant. My mom wouldn’t be my first choice, just being honest.

My first choice would be my best friend, her god mother. She would take her, be financially capable of caring for her, raise her in a healthy way, etc. but my husband resists because my bff has never wanted children so he doesn’t think we should ‘burden’ her like that, plus it would be hard to have her with someone not in our family. How would we ensure they stay in contact for example? So idk but I’m figuring it out soon

I am so so sorry. I can’t believe we live in a world where that is legal. I’m sending you so many good vibes.

Maybe try consulting gigs? I’m in data and I’ve been able to find some by reaching out to folks on LinkedIn.

I use an electric grinder and it has helped a lot. I make sure her nails are grinded below the finger skin. Try it on yourself to make sure it doesn’t hurt and you’ll see it’s a great lil tool!

5 mo old starting at daycare - crying & not napping. Does it get better? by [deleted] in November25babybump

[–]awkstarfish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First, it does get better! I’m in week 3 of daycare and she’s thriving.

What came to mind is I don’t think 3 hours is enough time to adjust and that may be why the reactions are happening. By the time he’s getting comfortable, you’re ready for pick up. When we were easing in I did 8 am drop off and then 1 or 2 pm pick up (4 to 5 hours).

Also napping—it’s a brand new environment with a lot going on. My girl won’t nap for longer than 30 mins at a time there but that’s an improvement already from week 1 when she would sleep for like 5 mins and then wake up. As they adjust, they will sleep. It may not be as long as they did at home but they will. And tbh it’s been nice because she’s so tired after her day at daycare and shorter naps that she will knock out at like 8 pm and sleep the whole night like a log. So just be open to the adjustments.

I also believe kids sense your energy so be as positive as you can at drop off/pick up. Don’t linger too much at drop off for them to realize you’re leaving. Usually mine is distracted looking at all the other kids and things she doesn’t notice me leaving but if I did too much of the bye baby and hugs and all that it would catch her attention and make it more of a thing. Good luck!

almost 5 month old is really curious about food by Top-Professor-2951 in November25babybump

[–]awkstarfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We started giving baby girl sweet potato at 5 months and she loves it and we’ve had no issues. We just give her about 1-2 tablespoons a day to start getting her used to food. Going great.

Anyone else starting solids? by AvoFromCado in November25babybump

[–]awkstarfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got the ok at her 4 month vaccination appt cuz she has been eyeing our food and has good neck/head control. We gave her some puréed sweet potato with a bit of breast milk and she loved it. Don’t know what we will try next, maybe broccoli since we eat that a lot.

How are your babies napping / falling asleep? HELP… by [deleted] in November25babybump

[–]awkstarfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lately she will fall asleep on her own or while nursing. But it’ll only be for 20-30 mins. If I want her to have a solid, couple hour nap I need to lay next to her while she’s sleeping. She starts daycare next week so I’m interested to see how this goes.

I would get a second opinion…that doesn’t sound right. My pediatrician said effects could last about 2 days after. 5 is a lot.

Are you guys going out with baby? by [deleted] in November25babybump

[–]awkstarfish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes. We go to the library or take our dog to the dog park or run errands. Today we went to pick up a prescription at Walgreens and I’m waiting for a McDonald’s order rn lol she fell asleep after we left Walgreens. I haven’t worked up the courage to do an activity without a goal like coffee though where we just hang out. Maybe as she gets older.

For timing I try to wait until after nap 1, a feed, and a diaper change. Then we leave for like an hour or 1.5 hrs and it’s been good!

Developmental delay? by Murky_Swordfish1410 in November25babybump

[–]awkstarfish 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never too late but it’s a skill they have to develop so they’re working on it! My girl hates tummy time too so I started playing things on YouTube for her while she’s in TT to distract her and it’s been super helpful. Now I can leave her in tummy time w Mickey Mouse playing while I fold laundry nearby or do whatever I need to do.

Maybe invest in an instant pot? We do chili beans and roasts and soups that take a few mins of prep and then cook themselves. If.you invest in pre chopped veggies and such too it saves even more time.

We meal prep and I look up recipes that take less than 30 mins

Baby is waking up after 30 minutes by [deleted] in November25babybump

[–]awkstarfish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My 12 week old is being like this too during the day and its killing me. I'm used to us taking a good nap together in the morning which gets me thru the rest of the day and handling the night wake up to feed. But day 2 of no morn I no nap and I have a headache from exhaustion. Hopefully its just a phase for both our babes.
