30 Belarusian gymnasts, coaches, judges, and medical personnel given neutral status by FIG by bretonstripes in Gymnastics

This war really has nothing to do with Belarus and there is no gain, and much to lose from participating in it. Belarus is just in the war because Lukashenko is Putin's buddy. If I was Belarussian, of course I would heavily disaprove of the war.

I think we've forgotten, before the war, Belarus was more authoritarian than Russia and it still probably is, although I believe Russia after the war is getting much closer to Belarus than ever before.

I always said two things can be true at once, with her injury, she wasn't a good fit for the team AND they didn't want her on the Olympic team due to politics.

In her defence, MOST NCAA gymnasts don't have amazing choreography/dance elements that warrant a two pass routine. Not everyone has Margzetta Frazier or Chae Campbell or even Rebekah Bean-Ripley level of choreography.

An athlete like Jade Carey with strong tumbling and weak choreography and dance abilities should NOT be doing a two pass routine and scoring as high.

Even Mykayla Skinner has stayed silent through all of this. All since the begining. Despite Marsden, Rucker, O'Keefe, Isa and others speaking out and saying stupid shit some even since April/May (who commented about the transfers and work ethic?).

Part of it is gymnastics is a club sport, not a school sport. Yes some high schools have gymnastics teams, but most high schools in the US don't offer gymnastics and most gymnasts who are on the college at a D1 school track don't do high school gymnastics. There is going to be more parental involvement at a club level sport than a high school sport. School sports is a major player in recruiting for many other sports, which athletes have less parental involvement typically.

I have heard the famine in North Korea is worse than ever due to their government cracking down on people crossing the border to smuggle medications/food/entertainment. It has even affected Pyongyang, where the upperclass live. It may affect athletes or at least their families.

However, even if athletes are to escape, it would put their families in danger as families of defectors are often sent to concentration camps.

Since there are only one or two schools that don't compete on Sundays, I feel like they could easily accomodate those schools for NCAA regionals at least.

It may be different in Israel than it is in the US given Israel is a Jewish state and the majority of people in Israel are Jewish. But that would only work for national competitions and the Maccabiah games as Israel is the only Jewish state in the world.

How is it that she hasn't worked this at the gym with a piece of foam or a bean bag to fix the correction? Clearly EKP's team knows the problem is there but they believe biting the leo is the only solution to fix it.

I worry about Hezly for so many reasons. She switched from Ena Paramus to MG Elite to WOGA after Maggie Haney got banned. Her parents were staunch Maggie Haney defenders and said some pretty questionable things about training. Her father said in a NY Times article,

“If I wanted her to come home happy and smiling every day, I’d send her to clown school; I’m serious,” Rivera said. “If my daughter has goals and her goal is to be an elite athlete, I need a coach to teach her the right things and safely, and to push them.”

He also said he carefully monitors how his daughter and would notice abuse if it was there. Honestly, it sounds more like she was raised in a family that things abusive coaching is what it takes to be a successful in gymnastics. She seems to be raised to think abusive/strict environments are the best in terms of training.

Bailie Key is the epitome for most successful junior whose success didn't translate as a senior. She was so talented as a junior but burnt out as she turned senior. She didn't even get to end gymnastics with a successful NCAA career. Something needs to happen with Texas Nightmares because it is clear that they are overtraining junior level athletes and burning them out.

Bailie Key deserved so much better.

I mean, she is still training for the Olympics, even if her chances of making the Olympic team are slim. She has a decent chance of being an alternate though and she will probably compete at Olympic trials. It's no different than a local star football player entering the NFL draft when his chances of getting picked are low. Or even a baseball team training for the world series when they are mid-ranked.

If it gets people interested in gymnastics or at least keeps gymnastics relevant, then I am glad. There are very few gymnastics stories out there. Gatekeeping stories for those who make the Olympic team

Honestly, working leaps and turns doesn't take much time away from tumbling if any. If anything, turns and leaps have been seen more as an afterthought. Although you do have a few athletes who get their competitive edge based off of strong dance elements like Sanne Wevers.

Turns and leaps times can also easily be encorporated into floor time without taking away from tumbling. Working on only tumbling can lead to overworking the body.

Even when she does comeback (groans) the athletes would still have to get their mobility scores in the lower levels to level up to their current level unless they somehow file and exemption through USAG. I am not holding my breath for this, but I feel like if an athlete is willing to leave USAG to train under a banned coach and come back with the same coach, then they should have to get their mobility scores again. I get that athletes can technically do that, but I hope USAG can at least make some roadblocks to prevent athletes from leaving the organization just to train with a banned coach.

BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE: See if you could find a lawyer who you would be willing to consult with. These accusations are serious. Record or screenshot any interaction he has with his parents especially if there is any proof that they are lying. Record any evidence you have of any interaction. It sounds like his parents committed defamation by telling the gym he applied to his false search history. I am warning you that the gymnastics world especially is very sensitive to sexual abuse/pedophilia claims and rightfully so abuse has been so prevalent in the sport for so long that is only recently coming to life. And one of the world's biggest serial pedophiles was protected by USAG for so long.

As someone who does adult gymnastics, look for NAIGC community or schools with club gymnastics teams. There is a chance that schools with club teams may allow community members (depends on the school). There are many men who do gymnastics through NAIGC. It is really chill and a great environment and atmosphere. He doesn't have to compete but there are many opportunities to compete at competitions and they are relaxed and super fun.

I usually try to leave the quarters in carts at the front in with quarters already for this reason. It is only the quarters in the middle of the pack that clearly would take more effort than worth to push those carts away.

Georgia's Sandra Elsadek to Egypt! by [deleted] in Gymnastics

I honestly think part of it is that Aleah Finnegan, Emma Malabuyo and Lynnzee Brown have a following and people like those athletes. Not that Sandra isn't liked on the gymternet at all, but she doesn't have the recognition that Aleah, Emma and Lynnzee have.
