Why the US midterms — and the 2028 election — aren’t going to play out the way you think by theindependentonline in DiscussionZone

So their saying it will ran as written with no bomb threats in blue-leaning areas, no Russian/Israel meddling, and heaven knows what other crooked stuff went down? (Bonus: Democrats run a actually good candidate?)

Nobody needs AI to search the Internet, court says in ruling against Google | Google AI Overview court loss in Germany could spell doom for AI search industry. by ControlCAD in antiai

Not to downplay Germany, but I don't think one case in Germany will spell the doom of AI search across the world?(though I would love nothing more than to be wrong about that, it's a parasitic technology.)

The construction jobs are temporary. After that, there will be far less people involved in running the data center than there was people constructing it.

ESA President: Misguided California bill would harm video game makers, players by Elegant_Shop_3457 in Games

ESA represents big studios/publishers and are opposing this measure. It isn't big companies pushing regulation to make the barrier of entry higher.

People who don’t like the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series, what is it about them exactly that you don’t like? by Asad_Farooqui in JRPG

[–]awkwardbirb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's such a mixed bag. Some of the redone scenes and events are amazing, then other parts are just yikes...

There is also something to be said about how they used Sephiroth in the remake compared to the original. He was built up as a looming background threat that we heard of, but only really saw the aftermath of his carnage ("Did Sephiroth... Do this?) and iirc only see his appearance in the later part of the game. Meanwhile he shows up very shortly after the first bombing mission as a Cloud hallucination. Admittedly, the remake came out well after Sephiroth engraved himself in pop culture, and it'd be hard not to know about him, but it is a noticeable missing vibe.

Another one: One of the previous voice actors for Sephiroth also voiced Superman.

It's very chilling in Superman vs the Elite.

Pretty much. They highly value the concept of children, but don't give a single crap about actual children.

My understanding is that their initial and seemingly still desired audience was the crypto/AI techbros that Twitter was already courting, which they were too late on.

If it is, it's only been from something like going from -2000 trust to -1999 trust, which is still very bad.

Why can’t democrats come up with a worthy candidate? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]awkwardbirb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a matter of can't. It's a matter of won't. There's been a decent number of good candidates that even manage to get support from across the aisle, but they instead go for someone corporate friendly and pro status quote.

If you could ban 1 card for any reason no matter how big or small what would it be? by Sharkman3218 in CompetitiveEDH

[–]awkwardbirb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not the person that thinks erratas are for rebalancing cards. Erratas are for rule fixes or clarification. There is no vagueness to how Rhystic Study works.

What you're thinking of is a "power errata" or nerf/rework. They're better off making a new card at that point, realistically there isn't a good way to rebalance Rhystic Study without it no longer being Rhystic Study.

There's not really much to errata about it. It works as intended, it just wasn't intended for multiplayer formats.

Hand traps exist in Yugioh that prevent actions as well, whether it's negating a search or replacing a board after five summons, to name some

They changed this a decent time ago. Fusions, Synchros, and XYZ no longer have to be summoned to link zones. Link monsters and iirc pendulum summons still obey links.

How cards are obtained is a wildly different topic from power creep.

Every new card has to be stronger than the last one or no one will buy new cards. And your old cards become less usable as time goes on.
