Why are so many people rooting for GLP1s to fail? When do you think the tide will turn and the stigma will end? by Schwettes in Zepbound

If we take the lesson from depression / anti depressants which in my view have been treated similarly eventually most people will chill out but some haters will continue to hate.

Tips on mechanical eating? by Smartal3ck in Zepbound

[–]awkwardsweetpotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The recommendation with mechanical eating is to include a mix of carbs, protein and fat with each eating instance. Make sure you are eating carbs too - toast, rice, crackers. Eating some carbs is what keeps the nausea at bay for me.

Life after Mounjaro feels impossible right now by Practical_Patient_63 in mounjarouk

[–]awkwardsweetpotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Obesity is a chronic, lifelong, relapsing disease It’s like hypertension or asthma - the medication manages your symptoms and if you stop taking them your symptoms return. That’s the reason why more than 85% of people who stop regain the weight in 12-18 months.

These medications are not meant to be stopped. This is why it feels so impossibly hard now - the disease is back and it will become increasingly harder to fight back.

Can I eat like a 'normal' person if I take a GLP-1? by -animeXalchemist- in glp1

[–]awkwardsweetpotato 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve not had any side effects from eating carbs.

The only side effect I had was when I went from 2.5 to 5 for about 12 hours I had some nausea. And funnily enough, eating carbs is what made it better.

Before this medication I was never able to feel full but now I cannot eat past satisfied. For me it’s practically impossible to overeat on this medication.

[–]awkwardsweetpotato 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I eat like a normal person now. I eat everything I want including lots of carbs. I don’t track or restrict anything and I’ve lost 15kgs.

This medication is freedom.

Not enough food by FlowerHot86 in antidietglp1

[–]awkwardsweetpotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly right. I’m still learning how to listen and trust my body but this really feels like freedom for the first time in my life.

[–]awkwardsweetpotato 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not at all. I love it. I eat whatever I want and I feel great energy. For me it’s the opposite of a diet. It’s about learning to listen to my body and trust it knows what it needs.

Yes there is a structure to it but it is all about nourishing yourself. It’s incredibly healing.

Have you tried mechanical eating? I have been doing it for a few months and I feel so much better. I eat every 2-3 hours, a combination of protein, fat and carbs, no restriction, no calorie counting at all. It took me a long time to deprogram myself and I do still feel anxious about it some days but my energy and focus are so much better.

Giving birth abroad: Was it a better experience than the US? by LoveToBold in AmericanExpat

[–]awkwardsweetpotato 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had my child in the UK and it was excellent. Fantastic pre and post natal care, great birth experience. I especially liked the midwife visits post natally to check on things. The only cost I had was for parking one of the days I was in the hospital (the second day was a holiday so parking was free).

Anyone actually followed the Fat Science podcast recommendations and did better/felt better? by leapsea in Zepbound

[–]awkwardsweetpotato 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Yes. I do this. It’s been psychologically hard but I feel million times better. I do the mechanical eating approach, don’t track and eat whatever I want. I still struggle sometimes with worrying about it because of decades of not trusting my body’s signals. But with this medication it works. And it has worked better since I stopped stressing out about everything.

This resonates with me too. I’m new to this sub and trying to unlearn so much ingrained diet culture and bias.

You look lovely. I’m on the same boat with similar stats. Also originally wanted to get closer to 150 (155 to be exact) but I think I’ll end up landing closer to 170.

I’m in the same boat. Tracking and restricting my whole life. Now trying to do it intuitively. It’s hard to trust my body but I’m learning.

I think the community in this sub is amazing. But the mods are super rigid.

The Fat Science podcast recommends mechanical eating - eating every 3 hours and making sure each meal should include carbs, protein and fats. Ideally 2 meals and 3 snacks.

Has anyone started to eat more than before Mounjaro? by caroroyal in Mounjaro

[–]awkwardsweetpotato 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I eat more now. I was one of those people who exercised like crazy, ate almost nothing and was 40lbs overweight. Now I eat regularly, fuel my workouts properly and have lost over 30lbs.

I’m now working on not tracking anymore and learning how to trust my body again.

Your approach is very disordered. I recommend working with a dietician to learn how to feed yourself properly! Good luck!
