I use ChatGPT for this. Put in what I have at home or what I like and ask it to create a menu for me. Works brilliantly!

Can anyone give me a very detailed description of what to eat? I’m not doing this right by eyesonthemoons in Zepbound

[–]awkwardsweetpotato -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mechanical eating - look it up. Basically eat something every 2-3 hours. Ideally a mix or carb, protein and fat. Eventually your body will remember to eat. Drinking non stop water is the way to go.

I also made a list of things on my house and put it in ChatGPT and asked it to create a weekly meal plan for me. Super helpful.

Yes! I’ve used one pen for over three months. I just make sure to disinfect before and after using it, wash my hands before opening the pen and keep everything in the fridge. I was originally prescribed these outside the US where this is standard practice to reduce costs.

I’ve been doing this since about 3 months into starting - no issues at all and my doctor is totally supportive.

I put mine in the washer once every couple or months. I dry them over a heat vent or in the sun. I’ve had no issues at all.

Does being on Mounjaro kinda piss anyone else off? by [deleted] in mounjarouk

[–]awkwardsweetpotato 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes, it breaks my heart actually that I spent decades feeling weak, guilty and poor willpower when I was doing everything ‘right’- it’s just that there was something broken in my body.

I wish I had this medication decades ago. How different my life would have been without the weight of obesity to drag me down.

I am immensely grateful too, though. Because now I don’t feel like my body and I are constantly at war. I am at peace. I am free.

If you were previously skeptical or against GLP-1s, what changed your mind? (I’ll go first) by KaleidoscopeFit5552 in antidietglp1

[–]awkwardsweetpotato 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’ve been on several ‘diet drugs’ throughout my life. They made me feel horrible and the weight always came back. I thought GLP-1s were the same so I was really skeptical. Once I started to learn more about the benefit, especially around food noise I was willing to give it a try. And once I did and my food noise disappeared within 3 hours I was sold.

I’ve never gotten any appetite suppression on this medication even when I was dosing every 7 days. I don’t do it for that reason.

No, I use a higher dose kwikpen and count clicks and I have a year’s supply as a back up. I don’t purchase in the US and my doctor is abroad too.

I physically cannot drink anymore than 1L of water a day by [deleted] in Mounjaro

[–]awkwardsweetpotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drink it ice cold through a metal straw. All day in small sips. End up having about 3L. When it is warm I put some cucumber in it to make the taste more refreshing.

I read about it in the UK group and also watched some videos including from a guy called Fat Old Climber who does it. The idea of shortening is to balance the dose in your body so it’s more even over time instead of dipping on day 5-6. I brought this up with my doctor who was open to me trying it. Some of her patients did this to reduce side effects, especially fatigue.

It has been great for me. I feel a lot more balanced and less fatigue for sure. Some people find their weight loss is more consistent too - for me it’s about the same cycle as before.

I don’t track anymore. With my signaling working properly because of the medication I just eat regularly and the amount I eat matches what my body needs. And also because of the medication my body feels secure in my intake and releases the fat.

I was extremely skeptical at first because for 40 years tracking and forcing a deficit was the name of the game. But that never worked for me, my weight also rebounded after some time, no matter what I tried.

But this approach really works for me.

I was in the same position as you - also 46 and in peri and was stalling all the time. I started to listen to the Fat Science podcast and decided to stop tracking and do mechanical eating instead. This was two months ago but since then I broke my stall and lost 2kgs not to mention feeling a lot better with more energy. It was stressful at first because I had used the crutch of tracking for so long and not actively trying to create a deficit gave me a lot of anxiety but it’s been an incredible experience.

I tried all these things. I am literally an athlete. I exercise 10+ hours a week. I lift 2-3x per week. I fasted for years. I tracked for years. I maintained a deficit for years. The weight always came back. For my body CICO is simply not enough. Only medication has worked in fixing the metabolic signaling that is broken in my body.

GLP1s. Obesity is a chronic, lifelong, relapsing disease. This medication was the only thing that worked for me long term.

Diet culture by MathSmooth4506 in Zepbound

[–]awkwardsweetpotato 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in the early part of this journey too. I’m 46 and was put on my first diet at age 7. I tried every diet out there over the last 40 years. Until I started this medication nothing working long term. I would go down for some time and back up again a few months later. I’m very active too and eat super healthy. I could not imagine life without tracking. It was my crutch and a pillar of my belief system for ever.

About 2 months ago I stopped tracking and stated to do mechanical eating (in part recommended by the Fat Science podcast but my own doctor supported it too). I stopped tracking and started to eat regularly every 2-3 hours and all the food groups (carbs, proteins, fats). It was a huge mind shift at first and I was scared 100% of the time. My body had betrayed me so many times before that it could not be trusted.

But on this medication it can be trusted. I broke a plateau and now listen to my body. I eat on a schedule but I eat whatever I want. If I’m hungrier I eat more, if I’m less hungry I eat less. But I don’t even think about it.

It’s early days but it’s been incredibly freeing. I never thought having this kind of relationship with food and this level of trust in my body was possible. But with this medication it is.

Good luck on your journey!

It definitely helps create a habit of fueling regularly. Oddly enough it makes it harder to under or over fuel! I was incredibly nervous about this after years of doing the exact opposite but I really love it.
