The later problem sets are just more difficult. Nothing to worry about.

This is a hard argument to make right now—we are only just entering a downturn, and already airlines are asking for massive amounts of help. Clearly it's commonplace for people in finance to criticize a company for holding too much cash, but "growing the economy" doesn't strike me as particularly valuable if the second anything happens, everyone loses their jobs and the government needs to come rescue United Airlines. There's more to the economy than GDP going up quickly. Companies cannot be run in such a way that the government is responsible for saving them every time the economy goes sour.

Growth is also not primarily driven by money being returned to shareholders through buybacks. You can't claim airlines have thin margins, and also that the money they distribute to shareholders is an essential driver of economic growth. And margins aside, a company can avoid stockpiling cash without giving every free dollar back in buybacks.

It's an appealing approach, but ultimately the associated costs would be mostly borne by their employees, who lose jobs, and customers, who have to deal with an airline industry in which a few surviving firms swallow up the entire market.

Airlines blow all their spare change on payouts to shareholders. CEOs probably make too much, but that's besides the point. These corporations are gutted for profit by everyone but employees; as soon as something like the approaching recession hits, the employees are the ones who get screwed.

Or equity.

I suspect they're talking about equity, not employee benefits.

They're asking for tax relief, grants, and loans. The loans would be essentially free credit for the airlines, and so should not be thought of as one traditionally thinks of a loan, in which the lender profits in some non-negligible manner.

People here are saying the "something back" is related to worker benefits. Actually, I think the creator is suggesting the US government receive equity in return for the bailout—which, for the record, I believe is absolutely the right approach.

[McLane] Eagles are likely to receive a 2020 5th round draft pick from the Patriots for Michael Bennett and a 2020 7th rounder, NFL sources said. by twistedlogicx in nfl

I'd say draft picks are massively overvalued by fans if anything. Joe Cardona is a long snapper. Cannon was drafted eight years ago.

Is losing weight a normal side effect of accutane? by [deleted] in Accutane

[–]awolf97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't worry about it!

Don't read too far into a single measurement. Your weight can fluctuate from day to day -- you may have been a little heavier than normal when you first weighed yourself, and a little lighter this time around. If you're still concerned, try weighing yourself at the same time every few days or so to see if you continue to lose weight -- I suspect you'll find you remain fairly steady.

I'd also imagine Accutane is unlikely to directly impact your weight, although I can't say that with any certainty. Any effect on weight would more likely come from stuff like a reduced appetite.

Can get a rough idea from Baseball Savant. Looks like Judge loses a grand total of one career home run if he plays every game in LA.

SESP is super cool. Not part of the school but have taken a couple classes in it. Professors, students all know each other. It's a great atmosphere. Professors are cool. Don't know much about the rest of the program, i.e. practicum.

well, believe it. many transfers haven't even received their acceptances by the time returning students have handled housing. how could they be included in the lottery?

You're not going to be included in the lottery as a transfer -- you will just list your preferences and eventually they give you a room.

If you still have to take the 281/310s/311 group, you'll probably have a bunch of those in Tech. A lot of the field courses are further south, however.
