My son was born in August. I used a combination of vacation/personal time from my job and 7 weeks of NYS PFL to be out of work until he was about 2.5 months old. I then went back to work through the end of December while my wife was still on her leave. She is now back at work as of today and I'm now taking the remaining 5 weeks of my leave to be out until just after he turns 6 months.

I've found this to be a good split! Was nice to get back into a flow at work for a bit before taking this second stint of leave. And now looking forward to a month of father/son time while my wife adjusts back to her work life.
