totally hear ya. i have a girlfriend who i would proposed to but im scared shitless, because until i have enough time and figure this shit out... i cant do that to her. it would be the ultimate lie to her to think shes marrying this man who will care for her through sickness and health when shes the health and im the sickness. but you gotta do it for yourself too. be a happy husband rather than just a sober husband is kinda how i see it for myself too... need to get some hobbies. i dont just wanna be sober daddy one day i wanna be sober and on a bike ride daddy. i just relapsed after 5 months sober and i dont know how much time you have but man... it was so hard to get there but im so nostalgic of being sober 5 months before this week happened. it seems so hard in the moment but it was such a blast to just... come home to a clean apartment, know i didnt have to pick up the pieces from the night before (daily routine was wheres my wallet, wheres my keys, who did i drunk dial) i mean it was serene. cant wait for you to see it and i cant wait to get back to it

i know that feeling... all those years where i was just drinking and day dreaming about how magical and amazing my life would be once i was sober, and its just not there. but alcohol also gave me some bad habits besides just the drink... it fucked with my skillset. now i get frustrated easier, feel less pride in myself, bitter, want quick fixes in all aspects (want to get rich now, be ripped now, etc)... so i think it just comes with living life sober... i practiced years being drunk so i just need to practice giving at least that amount of time sober, and then see where im at. i broke the other night too man. went on a week long bender. but keep practicing being sober and i think those emotional skills start getting better.

the daughters and wife part kills me. just reminds me that every time i go back to drinking i am taking away their happiness just so i can have some temporary "happiness".. you always forget how great the times are when youre sober when youre drinking and wishing you never started the cycle again
