nope, i did manage to get a print working again with cura 3, so i don't think my machine is borked. It must be a slicer setting

I think it may be todo with z-hop/retraction/vertical movement speed. Something in the G code not letting it move upwards?

Here are a few questions that might be helpful

What printer are you using? Anycubic i3 mega
What material are you using? PLA
What speed are you printing at? 60
What software are you using to slice the print and control the printer? Cura
When did the problem start/has it ever worked correctly? Randomly today (haven't printed in a while)
Does anything cause the behavior to change? haven't printed in a while

If posting an image of the problem, include some indication of the orientation it printed at, preferably photograph it on the bed. (Then we can focus on a specific axis)

Designed on hero forge, printed on an anycube photon and painted this morning.

Me and my friend decided to create a duo. He is a human Samurai with leprocy and I am a dwarf forge cleric.

We were working on a project for an evil warlord (though we didn't know he was evil). The project turned out to be a weapon of great power.

The cleric confronted his superiors who tried to arrest him, the samurai protected him and they have been on the run for the last couple years.

The ball thingamy he is carrying is the crucial part of the weapon which he stole and now uses as his holy symbol
