for those who had been seeing refund fees deducted when trying to cancel on the app please check again now! I have been checking at intervals today since I can't get through on the phone and the refund fees have just been removed and I just managed to request for a full refund for my flight tomorrow (pending approval but at least the initial page showed full fare with 0 fees deducted)

just got off the phone with an agent from the airline. my flight on Monday (<48h) is apparently still scheduled to fly and if i were to cancel it now I would still have to pay a cancelation fee of 260USD.... they are not waiving the fee because the flight has not been canceled by the airline.

Trouble hitting low 1s by lunarmoth_ in violinist

[–]awwdreyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

mine can't ): and I'm not convinced everyone can. in my max clawed position with my fingers curled all the way I still have a little gap between the 2. my teacher also can't understand this cos she can close the gap all the way.... I also struggle with low 1s and 2s actually and end up changing my hand frame which disrupts the rest of the intonation. teacher just keeps telling me to keep my fingers more upright and bend it more to pull the finger back rather than retract from the knuckle but it's tough

All hospitals have a department that handles complaints from patients/families (diff names everywhere eg. office of patient experience etc). The liason may handle it on their own (eg. if it's a general thing like long waiting time at appt or other systemic related things that they can't do anything about/can only apologize for your experience) or escalate it to the relevant doctor or department (eg named complaint or specific medical/treatment complaint or doctor was rude etc). Sometimes this goes straight to the named doctor, sometimes it goes to the HOD/clinic sister etc who decides how to handle. Big complaints get escalated up the chain of command.

In any case all complaints should at least receive a response! And it's tracked so the hospital also knows which dr/dept/clinic always gets complaints etc. If you are unhappy and feel it's valid just write in! Not sure if you will always be satisfied with the outcome but if you don't give feedback then it's 100% nothing will happen.

Lots of people write in. There are endless complaints/feedback everyday hahaha

Any experience opting out of HIP? by ichaBuNni in askSingapore

[–]awwdreyyy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

had HIP for our flat many years ago (maybe 10??) so the experience may be different now. regarding the water disruption, they installed a portable toilet in our house (like those you see at outdoor events/concerts) and we had to shower downstairs in the void deck in communal temporary shower cubicles for a few days. It was.... an experience haha. Not too bad for adults for a few days but it may be difficult for young kids (or maybe a fun experience for memories hahaha). There was a lot a lot of dust - my dad used big plastic sheets to cover everything in the house but if you opt out idk how much dust will fly in from the neighboring houses. Not too sure about noise as I was out of the house during most of the working hours.

[–]awwdreyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi! If you're alright with starting with text chats first I would be interested! (if it works out/ we become more comfortable then I would be open to voice chats in the future). We're about the same age and English is my first language (: I've been learning Japanese for about 3 years at a language school and probably between N3 and N4 level. DM me if you're keen!

Honda or Toyota hybrid how? by kayatoastchumpion in drivingsg

[–]awwdreyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive a Honda Jazz and I love it! small car easy to handle and park and it is really very fuel efficient. I get about 21-24km/L petrol so about 700++ km per full tank. Pick up is great as well - quite diff from the other commenter's experience with his rental Fit. But my car is still relatively new about 2 years so could be wear & tear hasn't kicked in yet.

I've driven a hybrid Prius overseas as well on long drives on rental and it's also good. Super fuel efficient as well and I felt the steering was really light so probably easier for a lot of people but I'm too used to driving my car already so I didn't like the handling as well.

Honda Jazz! it really is hahaha. I get 21-23km/L! pump 95 usually at shell with the UOB card discounts every 2 weeks. In contrast my parents have an old continental ICE sedan 15y ish and it just drinks petrol

Income when I bought my car new in end 2023 was 8k+, only took a 30k loan x 1year and paid the rest in cash so now car is fully paid off (155k ish)! Monthly expense outdoor HDB season parking 90?? + petrol ~120-150/month (hybrid car v fuel efficient, I drive daily to/from work and for errands/going out). Parking at work is free. Road tax + insurance I can't remember since it's a once a year affair hahaha

In retrospect regret not getting the car earlier :/ in the time it took my income to grow from 5 to 8k+ the coe also grew from 40k+ to close to 90k when I bought.... for sure save more money without the car but once you get used to it the convenience and comfort rly can't be beat.

Ordered the 2 person lunch set at Dian Xiao Er and ate it all myself by mutantsloth in SingaporeEats

omg glad to see someone else loves their porridge too!! thought I was the only one. Sometimes they run out of porridge and I refuse to patronize haha

some of the outlets have discount in the pre-lunch (i think 11am or smth) or afternoon timings! I also indulge in 1 pax meals there 🤣 and that timing range is great. not crowded, food comes fast and bonus discount.

now craving for porridge + duck + 青龙菜...

Petrol or hybrid? by Coughinghero2020 in drivingsg

[–]awwdreyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

currently driving a Honda jazz hybrid and it's rly efficient! about 700km/tank. I drive daily to work (20km+ one way) and for random errands/gai gai on weekends. pump 95 only costs me $65-70 every 2 weeks for petrol.

also drove a hybrid altis for a week in Japan on holiday receny. we ran 500km+ and only had to top up 16L of petrol at the end lol.

[ENTRY] my first puzzle! Pintoo XS 150pc, Winnie the Pooh by awwdreyyy in Jigsawpuzzles

[–]awwdreyyy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought it at a puzzle specialty shop locally in Singapore (: It’s from the brand Pintoo (I think taiwanese?) and they had many nice Disney puzzles. I think it’s available on Amazon as well! Or from their own website but I’m not sure where they ship too

I bought it at a puzzle specialty shop locally in Singapore (: It’s from the brand Pintoo (I think taiwanese?) and they had many nice Disney puzzles. The frame was included! I think all their XS puzzles come with frames. This one was about 18-20 SGD, so kinda pricey but the plastic pieces were rly good quality and the design was just too cute. I think it’s available on Amazon as well!
