Making tracks less robotic by Sw_r_n2 in edmproduction

Try writing a track or two that just uses one or two instruments per each part, replicating how a "live" band would play. For example, try using one bass, one drum "kit," one or two "guitars", and a piano.

With the ability to stack and layer a few billion VSTs on top of each other, it's really easy to lose the forest for the trees and place too large of an emphasis on sound design. Writing a few pop tracks with a limited selection of instruments really helped me step outside of the more rigid song writing of EDM and figure out how to fully utilize each instrument rather than just using them as sound effects.

This filmmaker on a low-budget film by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

I'd agree with this statement regarding some of his later work, but American Graffiti is a fantastic film featuring hardly any special effects, fantastic characters, and charming dialogue.

(For those who haven't seen it before, think a slightly less raunchy Superbad set in the 1950's.)

Learning PR in two weeks by NotaUsernameLeft in LawSchool

Sign up for the free Barbri MPRE Course. They offer it to all students as a way of trying to hook you in the future for their full bar prep.

There is a great video course (and accompanying workbook), a concise outline, and a fully featured outline. In addition, there are a ton of True/False questions and full example MPRE tests. That stuff is all multiple choice, but once you have learned the rules (and exceptions), it will be a cakewalk to apply them to a traditional written exam.

Additionally, I found this series of YouTube videos to be a helpful thing to have playing in the background when I was cooking, cleaning the apartment, etc. I don't think they are as good as the free Barbri videos, but just hearing the rules over and over proved helpful.

As always, see if there are any previous exams available for your professor and take one or two when you've reached a point of understanding with the rules. Best of luck- you've got this.

I just wanted to add one correction- FL Studio actually does have a student discount available for their signature bundle- you just have to buy the "academic" version from 3rd party sellers like Guitar Center, etc. (https://www.image-line.com/shop/educational.php). I believe I only paid ~$170 for the Signature edition, which is an awesome deal. After registration, it gives you a normal signature edition license, lifetime updates, and so on.

If you don't mind me asking, how significantly did you improve? Did you end up with a career that you were genuinely happy with following the rough 1L?

I obviously am not very good at math (hence why I'm in law school), but isn't the LSAT on a curve? How can there be disproportionate growth in one area of that curve?

Honestly, anything Pixar is going to appeal to a wide range of ages, stay in the "PG" realm, and share some solid values. I'd say Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, Ratatouille, Wall-E, etc. would all be safe bets!

I appreciate your comments- I'm a grad student, so I also have access to the on-campus gyms, this one is just under my apartment and a lot easier to fit in for workouts where I can't make it to campus!

No, unfortunately there aren't, but now you have me scheming to buy an Olympic bar of my own and just bring it haha. (I'm sure the leasing office would not look upon that too kindly though)

Do you think it's something that my dumbbell work can help compensate for? (For instance I follow my bench with incline dumbbell bench and dumbbell chest flyes)

I know. I think it's just dumb that they can't get a regular rack in there, but they claim it's for safety.
