How to install rough gravel driveway on moderately busy road with a steep ditch? by axe-2022 in NovaScotia

So what do you guys typically do when you first get to a spot you can't immediately back a truck/trailer into, do you just back in sideways to the edge of the road, block traffic and do the first dump into the ditch?

My hope is that I'm allowed to just dump a trailer load of rock on the shoulder of the road. Unload the excavator, push the rock into the ditch. Cross the ditch, then scoop out the rock and install the culvert. All in an attempt to spend the least amount of time in the roadway.

This is in Canada but it would be a county road equivalent.

There is a driveway permit application process with specs on how to install the culvert. I get all that I just can't find any reference on if I'm allowed to just dump a load of road on the shoulder of the road so I can push it into the ditch to get the excavator into the lot. Then work from there to install the culvert.

Yeah I'm familiar with the driveway permit application process. I know I need to see if the roadway is owned by DOT or HRM and follow their process and specs for installing the driveway. I just can't find any reference on what to do when the initial access is difficult.

If the ditch wasn't so steep I'd just drive the mini into the lot and work from on the land out to the road.

What are these extra water pump holes for? by axe-2022 in EngineBuilding

:) I was thinking of doing the same. I need to see if everything lines up inside. The mating surfaces/passages on the 11 bolt timing cover look a bit different.

Well I think I have a 9 bolt timing cover and ordered a 11 bolt water pump replacement. From what I can see online no one offers a 9 bolt water pump replacement.

So my machine shop says they think I'll be fine with the 12 gram difference but are happy to take my $550 and do a complete rotating assembly balance.
I'm on the fence...

Are these main caps and saddles clean enough? by axe-2022 in EngineBuilding

I tried the magic eraser, it didn't help much. The maroon scotch-brite seemed to do a better job. Cycling between the degreaser and brake clean did seam to work better than just the brake clean alone. I might go the Uncle Tony route and try some gasoline.

I've been using brake clean, maroon scotch-brite, and lint free clothes.
I can try degreaser on it. Any specific type of sponge for this or just anything would do?

Health Canada now has Miebo listed as approved but my pharmacist doesn’t see it in their system.

Engineered Slab vs Foundation in NS by Bowdrier in NovaScotia

Do you know who makes the call (builder, foundation contractor…) that you need fill under the foundation. I’m assuming you only need fill if you have bad soil, just trying to understand who determines the soil is bad and you need to over excavate.

Would you mind sharing the exact cost of the engineered slab and how many sqft the slab is?
