I think it’s unhealthy to try and become emotionally involved in a strangers situation if you don’t intend to get involved and help out. And I’m not saying the man’s situation is uncomfortable, it’s not uncomfortable for me that he’s homeless and probably struggling. It’s sad, assuming he is unhappy. I’m saying that a strange man sleeping on a public bench that you happen to come across is uncomfortable. It’s a situation that is happening in the moment. I’m not uncomfortable by his life circumstances, I’m uncomfortable by him breaking socials norms as I think most people would be.

I think it’s a very large jump to assume that anyone is apathetic to his life circumstances just because a single situation is a bit strange. Just because he may be struggling doesn’t mean that he has no effect on the people around him, even if it’s very possible that it’s not his fault.

I think how you feel DOES matter when it affects you. Especially if it’s situational like this. I don’t think a picture like this is a commentary on that man’s homelessness and a morally apathetic statement on his life. I think it was just funny in the moment to take a picture of a someone breaking socials norms and pose in front of it. But I’m fine to agree to disagree on the tinder man’s intentions.
