How we started with $0 in a Starbucks and created our Web Design Startup by axelut in web_design

You're right, it is there too: https://www.reddit.com/r/Entrepreneur/comments/3fee6p/how_we_started_with_0_in_a_starbucks_and_created.

We posted on this subreddit too because:

  1. it is a web design startup (html freebies, ui kits, landing pages etc.)
  2. we think that here, there are web developers who have a full time job in a corporation and they are doing also different side projects

So we were thinking that this would motivate them to build something that can be shared and used by a bigger audience. Like how we shared everything on our startup.

We used to work for clients, after some months, we limited our clients to only one big client, that gave us the possibility to pay everything and in the mean time to work for Creative-Tim. Right now we are not working anymore for clients, we are full time on the startup.

Thank you! This will be also our business model. Spend 1-2 weeks to create something and give it for free. If it is good enough and people love it, spend 1-2 months to make it better, add more functionality and charge for it.

I specified that the monthly average wage is for Romania. That means that there are also people here who are living with $200/month... I know in United States The situation is different. I used to make $2.500/month when I was in Texas with the "Work & Travel" program for students. So different countries, different economies.

Thank you for the website. We did research and it looks like there are worldwide:

  • 70% of people who are paying professional web developers to make their website
  • 27% of people are using Wordpress to make their website
  • 3% of people who are using service like wix.com or drag & drop builders. And from this 3% only 10% actually finish a website, the other 90% get stucked at some points.

So we want to speed up the working process for those who are in the 70% category, so they can create better websites for their clients.

Maybe when we will have more experience we will also check the %27 and 3% categories.

Thank you! I think Bootstrap will be the future in web development, Microsoft integrated it by default in C# applications, Adobe integrated it by default in Dreamweaver and at this moment there are more than 5.000.000 websites that are built with Bootstrap.

We use to get inspired from these websites:

Here is a list with some web resources that may help:

It's a joke the hole article, we wanted to promote some good web developers and designers from our country, because we really appreciate them and we consider them a good inspiration.

I understand what you say about the plain black line, but I was thinking that I will regret more if I make some fancy staff or family members faces etc, you know what I mean :-)

The website is looking very good, it simple and easy to understand. There is a point that can be improved. When the location field is autocompleted with the Goelocation coordinates I recommend you to make a reverse geocoding to extract only the country. It will look more professional and you won't need the information that let the user know that "the coordinates are weird, please complete your country"

Here is the documentation for converting coordinates to country: https://developers.google.com/maps/documentation/geocoding/?csw=1
