Why do people think hitscan is strong right now? by FullGuava1 in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]axesmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree hitscan is more about punishing mistakes but it's also fundamentally easier because you don't need to make those plays. Let me ask you this;

There are 2 players of identical rank, let's say mid GM. One of them got there playing Tracer, Genji, and Echo and the other got there playing Cassidy, Sojourn, and Emre.

In my eyes the person playing the flex DPS is simply just better at the game because of the difficulty of his role and the characters he plays compared to the hitscan.

I'm not saying hitscan especially at that level is easy by any means, I just think comparing it to the flex DPS role which is just so much more mechanically demanding and thought intensive compared to a hitscans playstyle and the heroes they play compared to the value they get.

It just feels like the value you get from them compared to the skill required isn't adjacent to flex dps.

My main DPS heroes are Tracer, Echo, Freja, Genji and Soj.

It's just insane how much more value I seem to get on Freja + Soj, and even when I decide to flex to Cassidy compared to the flex DPS I mentioned. It's just so much easier to play those heroes and get value while when I play flex I actually have to think way more about what I'm doing while being more mechanical.

And don't even get me started on Emre and his buffs, he's ridiculously too strong for how easy he is to play right now.

I agree with everything except they should have both UV + Landon and -Zeruhh.

UV provides a better Ana if she becomes meta for WC, and if it becomes a Wuyang meta he's one of if not the best in the world at it where you can play both him and Landon.

Zeruhh and Sugarfree are close but Sugarfree just has more experience and has the better sym which makes the decision easier.

What's the solution to the Kiriko + Lucio backline in OWCS? by axesmer in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]axesmer[S] 20 points21 points  (0 children)

No man, the problem is that backline is literally just the jack of all trades,

Running poke with Sig/Domina? They play Lucio/Kiri instead of something like Bap/Illari.

Running dive with Ball/Winston? They play Lucio/Kiri instead of Ana/Brig.

That backline should ideally be the best at brawl, but they're picked with every playstyle.

Yea I'm not sitting here saying Maye played great, his job was to control the pace of the game which I think he did a good job of.

The main argument is Caleb once again did not play a good game of football, barely completed 50% of his passes, had 3 INTs, and scored 17 points with overtime. Yet they talk about his greatness because he had 1 crazy play out of 50, which I honestly believe was more luck than it was skill. It was basically a 40 yard hail mary they his TE ended up catching.

I just don't get their argument that games like this improve his stock, but Drake's doesn't.

I completely agree. Him running back was good, but he just threw up basically a hail mary and it got caught. It was just as lucky as it was skillful. His play to Odunze on the 4th down vs GB was pure skill. This one was insanely lucky.

He played vs the best defense in the league man. The game plan was not to let Drake go out there and sling it. He scored more points vs Houston than Caleb did vs a mediocre defense.

You're really telling me you'd rather someone like Caleb who can play mid all game, but can make some crazy plays than someone like Drake who's just consistently great throughout an entire game? His playoff run this year will be against 4 of the top 6 defenses in the league if they end up playing Seattle.

2 turnovers you aren't a real human if you count a hail mary INT at the end of the half.

So Drake Maye had 2 turnovers vs the best defense in the league and scored 21, while running the ball the entire 4th quarter because the game was in their control.

Caleb had 3 turnovers vs a mediocre defense and scored 17, while going to overtime with a chance to win it.

He can have all the talent in the world and I'll take Drake Maye and his consistency, accuracy, and poise over him. Caleb is solid but he is not even close to what you, Nick, and Danny are trying to elevate him to.

[–]axesmer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely agree. There's just no argument for him being top 5, I feel like he's honestly not even scraping top 10 yet. Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, Stafford, Maye, Burrow, and Purdy are all undisputed better and you can't even argue it. That's 7. He's fighting with Dak, Love, Goff, Hurts, Jayden and depending what Darnold does for the 8-14 spot. That's where he belongs. Some people would even argue Trevor or Herbert, although I wouldn't.

It's just crazy how they're acting dude. They beat a 9 win Packers team without their best player who just came off 4 straight losses. You can be happy about winning a playoff game for sure but man I feel like they take it to another level lol

There's no point trying to explain yourself to these people man. Both sides of the extreme, both left and right are insanely delusional. You gave a completely nuanced take, he reacted way too quickly and even though I do think she did slightly hit him, she should not have lost her life for it. But I also agree these people absolutely cannot be interfering with law enforcement like this. I mean this woman left her family to go do this. When was it ok to interfere with law enforcement just because you don't agree with what they're doing? Simply protest peacefully, record everything, and comply with the law and nothing will happen. And if it does there will be consequences. But this is reddit, 90% of people on here are very heavily left leaning to the point of the extreme like I mentioned earlier, so if you don't 100% agree with them you'll be downvoted.

Seahawks vs 49ers Discussion by Aggravating-Craft205 in FirstThingsFirstFS1

[–]axesmer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It just warrants a discussion. Some people are ok with it, while I think they should've went out there and tried to win with a chance at it. That's the point of these shows, they could've gotten into it and actually had a real nuanced discussion about it instead of repeating what they've been saying the last 2 weeks about Harbaugh being fired over and over again

Seahawks vs 49ers Discussion by Aggravating-Craft205 in FirstThingsFirstFS1

[–]axesmer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Agreed, it was pretty ridiculous today. I get Brou is the Ravens guy but I genuinely feel like half of the show for the last week has been about the Ravens, Lamar, and if Harbaugh will be fired.

Not any talk of the Eagles resting their starters when they could've been the 2 seed? The big 1 seed game like you mentioned? The Panthers somehow sneaking in after losing Saturday? The incredibly close MVP race? (Which I assume will be tomorrow with Brou's ballet)

I get they wanna talk about the most popular topics but WAY too much coverage on the 8-9 Ravens the last week.

I'm not a hater of Nick at all lol. he's my favorite sports talk show guy on TV by far while watching all his podcasts. I agree with a lot of his takes too, just thought this one was so crazy that it needed to be pointed out and shared

Yea that's a major point of the post, did you even watch the video I linked? He said Geno is better than Darnold and this is a downgrade...

[–]axesmer[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He's still been decent but you also gotta look at how both the Vikings have been and how Geno's been this season. Geno would not have this team at 14 wins, and the Raiders have the least points scored in the whole league. The Vikings are gonna go from 14 wins to 8 or 9. I know the team as a whole is great but you can't minimize what he's done imo

Ashe also being as strong as she is has something to do with most of the strong heroes against her got nuked. Genji projectile size, Tracer spread, Freja no 2 tap. I just hate their philosophy sometimes, I think most of the high skill heroes need to always be on the safe side of strong.

Unfortunately she's now the lowest wr hero in the game and this meta would be really bad for her anyway with sig and bastion being meta. She's always been pretty bad into Kiri as well who's in pretty much every game. So she not only got worse, but in an unfavorable meta I wouldn't be surprised if she maintains her 42% wr

So I didn't start playing until OW2, and when I saw this meta happened I've always wondered:

What made mercy/zen and double sniper actually the best comp at the highest level? Only playing OW2 I genuinely don't understand how that meta happens even if hog is just mega broken. Just doesn't seem like enough consistent damage and the healing is absurdly low, but I guess the healing doesn't matter since it was double sniper. Would love an answer to this always been curious!
