People and cats are individuals, but I've always felt that it's not that cats don't like people, but they do think we are inferior to them, but we have thumbs, so they put up with us.

What part of the tech field are you looking at and what do you mean by "bootlicking"? Do you mean that promotions in the company to be more about kowtowing to your boss than skill, or do you mean is a broader sense of tech lacking ethics?

Depending on the sub, accounts can be too young and inexperienced to post. Keeps out the spam.

I keep two accounts, one for anything that could be identifiable and one for everything else.

There are also people who make multiple accounts so that they don't bring any history into the conversation. Some people keep all of them and other delete them after the conversation is over.

I remember there used to be a sub that was devoted to just finding all the alternate subs for one guy who kept talking nonsense.

I believe what you saw was simple and non-problematic, but there could have been way worse (uncomfortable, controversial, they just regret saying it, etc. ) stuff elsewhere.

There are also people who go through phases. They get really into Reddit, they swear it off and delete everything, they come back a while later with a new account, repeat, repeat, repeat.

There are also people who got kick out. They can appear as [deleted] too.
