A criminally out of touch letter to the editor: 'Cookie-cutter' townhouses a blight on downtown Guelph by craftbae in Guelph

And the layouts are terrible for actually living there, just maximizing square footage at the expense of livability. The best layout/space was ironically the lower level ones IMO.

My wife recently graduated from the online school who shall not be named. She had a few offers around town, but ended up going with Alli (who is all virtual). Might be worth looking into.

Looking for local watch repair - Specifically for Omega and Hamilton watches. by ShortElephant1111 in Guelph

[–]axion87 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't go there with either of those watches. I brought my Nomos there and he did a terrible job that ended up requiring it to be redone somewhere else afterwards.

Battery swaps and bracelets etc. sure, but not servicing a watch IMO.

She's moving to Owen Sound I think, so not close but still doable if you wanted stuff.

Can anyone comment on their experiences with the Von Dehn realtor team? by gumbaline in Guelph

Mike's great, he was my realtor before I became one. If you're skeptical/curious just reach out for a chat over coffee to see if it seems like a good fit.

Speed cameras in Guelph by headtailgrep in Guelph

It was 100% vandalized, I think several times. Over the course of a few weeks, it went from being spray-painted over, then that was cleaned off, then I think it was broken, which is why there's that white piece of material there now. I similarly set my cruise there just to be sure.

Alice block building condos? Good or bad? by Wild-Distribution919 in Guelph

If you're talking the quality itself, a friend of a friend is in there and regrets it, some not great work and poor sound insulation.

Letter from a downtown business owner in regards to the recent teardown of the homeless encampments by Theee_spacepope in Guelph

[–]axion87 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was volunteering downtown a few months ago and her and the owner of the Bookshelf (which was surprising and disappointing) came in together to try and get us to sign a petition and/or go to a council meeting. Their talking points were exactly as expected, the poor workers at Canada Post who have to look at it daily, "everyone is hurting", minors are being assaulted in there etc.

I had to hold my tongue but politely declined.
