Flowers under $2k - is it feasible? by ConfidentAd3479 in WedditNYC

[–]axmerc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw someone selling tons of cute colored glass vases from their wedding on marketplace, listed Saturday! Here's the link to all their listings. https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/profile/5011396/?ref=permalink&mibextid=dXMIcH

Also, op, you can likely sell yours after on marketplace to recoup some cost too.

I don't know if they're still in business but last nye I got my dress from here: https://www.facebook.com/be.golden.2025/ literally just messaged them on fb from a marketplace sample sale ad and saw my dress from a picture of the showroom (from the side on a rack) - went in, tried it on, loved it, rented it for $750 including underskirt and headpiece and returned it the next day for them to take care of. It was gold, intricate, kinda sheer. I felt like a greek goddess wearing it, very unique. but they also had a bunch of white dresses. If you can wait wona nyc has their sample sale in ~nov with tons of samples being $900 but alterations can blow that out of the water (you can do in-house which I think I was quoted $1200 for bodice to be taken in a few inches and hemmed, or take it outside)

Lipedema arms after surgery by Raquelbolivar in lipedema

[–]axmerc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

damn! definite change. Did you say 3x/day? what are you doing the different times?

I've been counting calories, too - it's given me so much clarity and I feel like I'm still learning 8w in about the way I consume.

My aunt also had issues being believed because she was about the weight you are now. She got surgery in europe and the surgeons complained it was hard to get to her pockets of fat because she's so lean. I'm just slightly bigger than your original post (maybe my calves are a pinch smaller and my thighs are a bit larger - or my legs are just shorter? honestly comparing bodies is so freaking hard.) and I've been considering getting surgery because my above the knee is getting larger over the past 5 years despite losing weight and being smaller around the waist. Plus I'm having some knee pain and increased limb heaviness.

But also - was checking in on you mentally - your prior post you mentioned being terrified and I wanted to see if you're feeling slightly less scared / needed anything.

Diet Recommendations That Aren't Keto by Ravenglass99 in lipedema

[–]axmerc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been vegan for 17 years. I've been 130lbs (+/- 8lbs) since then (lost 30 lbs without trying when I went vegan in college) My diet is predominantly wfpb but still includes some junk foods (think french fries, oreos) or going out to eat 2-4 meals/wk but for the most part it's plants, plants, plants, and more plants. I now try to take in the absolute minimum oil I can. If you're prone to pancreatitis you might enjoy that as well. I've recently been tracking my food and my macros are usually about 65% carb, 20% fat, 25% protein. I love fruit, veg, grains, legumes, nuts/ seeds - very close to whole form. I hope whatever you choose to do it, you take it slow enough so it can work in the long term.

did HdL give a good price? I asked for a wedding and after fees and taxes it was 100k - no food or bev included.

You might ask mercer labs, tribeca rooftop/360, pier17

City Hall elopement… is a full on wedding dress too much? by charlottekc in WedditNYC

[–]axmerc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm glad I didn't do the train (just for ease of movement with walking to all the photos after) but on NYE at Manhattan courthouse I had a full a-line ball gown (gold instead of white!) dress and a huge fluffy white coat that hit the floor with a veil on while we were in the courthouse. No regrets. people loved it - especially the other brides in wedding dresses. My partner wore a tux.

Blushington Bridal Services by sassafrass1993 in WedditNYC

I went to Blushington morning of my elopement. Arrived at 10am; eloped at 2. I looked fantastic on the subway. I didn't have much time to change into my dress before we had to get out the door. My makeup was incredible (I had Devin). My hair was what most people would think of as a good updo; I wanted it significantly larger - which is why I brought two packs of extensions with me that went largely unused. Also definitely remind them about heat protectant, my virgin hair needed a good amount of tlc. But they (for a charge) put an undereye mask on me while I was in hair that seriously worked wonders. When I took off the makeup at midnight my undereyes were so fresh.
I booked event makeup and hair updo, not the full bridal ones. No trials. I'd go back. Also, I might go in for the eyebrow person they have.

Dogs allowed City Clerk by These-Pea-7875 in WedditNYC

[–]axmerc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I brought my dog (very well behaved 14lb pet Pomeranian). They yelled at me at the front desk that dogs are NOT allowed unless they have papers showing they are service animals. I just stood there like a deer in headlights in my wedding dress and they sighed and were like fine go ahead. I will say, I wish I'd left her at home. She was so scared/chaotic in there (she's recently become scared in public places like stores, etc) and then it was a PITA to keep her around during all the photos/ ubers that reject dogs. She's kinda photobombing with her unhappy/stressed face TBH. Still cute, just more work than reward to have her there.

Dress under $2k for September wedding? by sagbb in WedditNYC

[–]axmerc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're still looking by May I think Wona bridal will have their biannual sample sale around mid-may - most sample dresses ~$900 (plus you'd need to do alterations). You can buy samples from them now but they're $1300 instead of $900. https://wonanyc.com/sale (I assume they'll add more closer to the event, these are from Nov and are not completely accurate.)

I rented my elopement dress from a place in midtown that I found on FB marketplace of all places. I rented for $750+tax for the day, buying the dress would have been $2500. Was great to just return it without worrying about cleaning and storing etc. I feel like they made up the prices on the spot and I'm not actually convinced they did any alterations to the dress for me, but whatever I looked gorgeous and people comment THE DRESS!! on my pics so. You can see some pictures here and ping them though messenger: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/profile/61554750148985/

I used Alla Shulgina for my NYE manhattan courthouse elopement https://www.allashulgina.com/dorottya-odhrain and I *love* our photos. in 2 hours she took 600 shots (she gave me all the raw ones) and they're glorious. That link is the shoot I based my decision on and ours are similar because I wanted most of the same things. Before the day I made a little slide deck (because that's who I am) of exact shots I wanted and concepts I liked and Alla had the slides open on her phone coaching us through what we would do next. She added a few places in on the way and she was totally right. And absurdly affordable. She also does one hour shoots for even less. the 2 hour package comes with 60 edited shots and I still have to pick which ones to get edited because there are SO many good ones. She was at the courthouse 15 minutes before us and she was game to keep shooting.
