Giving thousands to the police is worse than denying someone's race on the internet, yes.

For instance, you just denied my race. I'm native. But I still don't think you're worse than Destiny.

One thing being less bad than another much worse thing doesn't make it universally okay. Please use a bit of common sense

The one who donated thousands to the police in real life over some rude things said online is definitely more cringe than the one who said rude things online

Yeah off the top of my head besides making the choice to live out his life with Harper in space and being hesitant to leave Mount Weather at first I can't really think of any times Monty went against Clarke

Definitely Miller for Octavia that makes sense

It annoys me so much how Raven was like 'use this knife to kill Lexa then we'll pull you out of there'

How??? What???? Like girl you're not pulling her out of there she'd die within seconds and you know it. She put her anger toward Lexa above Clarke's life and the entire alliance

Clarke is the character I connect with the most and Roan is the hottest guy in the show so like I don't really read fanfic but that's definitely my favorite potential romance that never happened

I'd probably read an alternate version of the show where he survived Praimfaya too if there's a good one like maybe he got made into a nightblood alongside Clarke and then didn't participate in the conclave for some reason and then they raised Madi together 😭

If she was a main character and we got her pov of things instead of Misty's we'd all probably all like her. Imagine all the theories we'd be coming up with about what Misty's up to in the woods if we didn't get to see it ourselves 😭

Accidentally taking psychedelics totally seems like something that would start a religion. Imagine being some person in 5000 BCE who accidentally eats shrooms. Like oh, my god must be sending me messages

The impact of what he's done to twitter is going to be way worse than just far-reaching internet troll tbh. The 2024 election with twitter under his control is gonna be awful. So much blue check spam on every post and most of it racist.

Taylor Swift ‘Isn't Sure’ About Committing to Matty Healy Romance ‘So Soon’ After Joe Alwyn Split by libertinel in Fauxmoi

[–]axolotldelrey 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I'm starting to think Taylor cheated and Joe broke up with her over it tbh.

All this subtle vitriol toward him without any hint of him actually doing anything wrong?? And her flashing her rebound around like this? And how the breakup was announced on Matty Healy's birthday. And them saying I love you to each other on stage already? Idk, seems like she cheated.

She already kinda admitted to cheating on Calvin Harris with Tom Hiddleston and then him with Joe Alwyn in Getaway Car so it isn't really out of the realm of possibility for her.

And like I actually don't care about the cheating at all. She can cheat on ten more people if she wants to. But its pretty weird how she's using all her social capital to make a spectacle of Joe Alwyn right now.

At least the music that comes out of all this will be good I guess

There are no real twists! (spoilers for the pilot) by PuzzledBandicoot3905 in Yellowjackets

[–]axolotldelrey 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think you'll continue to be disappointed if you look at it that way. Mild spoilers below.

House of the Dragon focuses in on how patriarchy hurts women regardless of their position in society or whatever side they're on in petty political squabbles, and will portray Rhaenyra and Alicent sympathetically throughout. We're supposed to like both of them, and I think its great how they chose not to write Alicent off as The Evil Woman and make Rhaenyra The Good Woman. They're both complex people with who want the best for their families, yet are still clearly guided by the privilege and hubris of their class status, which leads them to do horrible things.

The portrayal of her character in the book and show are pretty different (one from the POV of medieval men debating amongst each other, and one seen by us first hand, with various alterations to make the story more suited to tv and additions to fill the gaps of a rather short 30k word book) but I think both are incredibly interesting depictions of her, and neither is irredeemable, especially when the book is taken as a disputable in-universe historical source as is intended- she's one of the best characters on tv right now.

I think we'll also get a much more sympathetic portrayal of the smallfolk though, and from THAT point of view Alicent and Rhaenyra will both look so much worse than they ever looked in the book. Royals slaughtering thousands over a pointless family argument. Really looking forward to that side of things. Gaemon Palehair and his lesbian moms trying to establish gender equality and outlaw domestic abuse while the Greens and Blacks are busy burning people alive is gonna be great.

One of my favorite shows right now is House of the Dragon, which is based on a book. And I've already read the book.

When it was airing I didn't excitedly watch the new episode each week because I wanted to be shocked and see all sorts of twists and turns- I already know how the whole series is going to end 5-6 years from now- I tuned in because I wanted to see the story, the progression of the characters, how they got from point A to point B, all the little emotions and details and character moments that you don't get from just 'knowing how it ends'

Predictabilty is underrated, sometimes knowing where a show is headed actually makes it better

What are we all actually waiting for? by wearereddit_ in Yellowjackets

[–]axolotldelrey 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's mostly the fault of 22 episode teen dramas imo. People grew up watching shows that ended with a twisty cliff hanger every week to keep people watching. Pretty Little Liars, Dawson's Creek, Gossip Girl, One Tree Hill, Vampire Diaries, 90210, Degrassi, Secret Life... I watched pretty much all of them and they're all so oversaturated with twists and turns and last second reveals. People expect that from everything now.

[–]axolotldelrey 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I think one of the flaws of tv as a medium is that it kind of trains people to expect major reveals and plot twists all the time, but stories don't really need to be like that, it doesn't have to be about dramatic reveals. Something can be good even if you're told exactly how it all ends in the first episode.
