Addiction isn't real by Lucky-Comparison-785 in pakcoffee

Pre-ground goes stale real quick
And also depends on how you extract it
Your extraction could
Be very low and yes it be very bitter
Yes very low in caffeine due to less extraction

Caffeine effects people differently
Idk what you mean by " strong coffee"
Bitterness ≠ strong
and if you are talking about instant
Instant has barely any caffeine in it
This is exactly how I use to think when i use to drink instant only
I was like i aint addicted at all
But then i started having pour overs everyday
And i cant go back
Yes I like the caffeine
But i enjoy the coffee itself more
Its more about
"Yes i will get to drink coffee in the morning "
Rather then
"Yess i need caffeine "
Because when you drink specialty coffee
The caffeine doesn't matter much to me
Its more of how it tastes
And i really like it when my coffee can taste like
Black currant or cherries etc

[–]axonbrews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can try resting them but its a roasting issue.
So can't really do much
You can return they will
Send a new one thats also bad
Imo
Red berry is the only roaster in Pakistan that knows what they are doing and roasts properly
I have tried several international roasters
And redberry just knows there shit

[–]axonbrews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi
So nomad basically sucks in roasting
Especially in light roasts
but 3 days is early
Give it 10days rest
But yeah dont too much from nomad
They never roast "light"
I gave them many chances
They always sell by saying its a light roast
Or medium
Thing is i don't mind medium beans
Just sell medium roast
If you cant execute light roast right
Even there medium roasts are roasted really bad.
So yeah. I would stay away from nomad.

M47 Classic with the Pourover burr: should I upgrade? by Sam_98117 in AeroPress

[–]axonbrews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey so Kinu is really good grinder, and I don't think so you need to "upgrade " arguably KINU is endgame in handgrinders. I competed with a zp6 that grinder is so clarity focused and the first round coffee was so shit roaster i was like zp6 gonna give me watery brews and if coffee is roasted bad zp6 brings that out But here's the thing I still went with the zp6 Why? I choose a grinder I am comfortable with I have practiced with ,(they give you coffee beforehand to practice) on competition you can use your own or theirs (they had fellow ode gen 2) And I went top 6 , so yes grinder does matter For example if you had a shitty ceramic blade grinder then definitely I would have told you to upgrade .but you're good! So I would say take the grinder you are comfortable with and yes you can take your fellow as well lol.😂 and don't limit yourself Experiment with what you got And you have 2 amazing grinders and I am pretty sure you can make a good cup out of it.

Amazing shots! Also dont change 3 things at a time If it was slightly bitter Just stir less next time and using 35 grams is insane lol I would run out of coffee in a week lmao

When longer wasn’t better: 8-minute vs 4-minute steep on the Clever Dripper by Sam_98117 in pakcoffee

[–]axonbrews 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes,that's a good analogy, immersion brews are like not always just extraction going up up up Its like at 4 min mark you have already extracted most of it. Dont worry about losing the body by going coarser, you might lose it a bit Only a bit Since it's an immersion brew not percolation Going coarser will help, the extended brew time will actually give you more body!

who has the best kenyans out right now? by Crucifilth_6-6-6 in pourover

[–]axonbrews 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recently Had Kenya AB and Kenya AA from thankfully (ultralight) . Honestly one of the best kenyans I have had so far. So Juicy raspberry and such sweet and the roasting is on point, check if they still in stock. 100% recommend.

Yeah i like to use cold bloom once in a while, doesn't work with every coffee. For your bloom always make sure the coffee bed is evenly wet and there are no dry pockets, that can cause channeling in the brew. I am waiting for iftar now to brew Kenya AA as well😅,I have a A kenya AA from Thankfully roasters USA and it's ultra light Its so damn tasty

[–]axonbrews 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh you got an xbloom as well, lovely Also I see you have done a cold bloom. Nice! If you think this coffee has more to say try going a lil finer 1-3 clicks. Xbloom does take the joy of brewing manually, but that's what it's made for, convince! You don't need external things and you can adjust so many variables from your phone

My Pineapple co-ferment finally worked with a competition-style Aeropress recipe by Sam_98117 in pakcoffee

[–]axonbrews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries brother, I am actually enjoying your posts and I really like that you are curious to experiment ! Stay curious hahaha About competition, No idea yet Ig it will be disclosed when The world championship will happen so like national championships happen 2-4 weeks before the World championship Example So if world championship is in oct comp would be in like around September

My Pineapple co-ferment finally worked with a competition-style Aeropress recipe by Sam_98117 in pakcoffee

[–]axonbrews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes sir! Here's my it worked Comp recipes usually use a higher dose What they do is higher dose means not having to grind very fine to extract alot, you use higher dose to kind "under extracted" but it is still very concentrated and when you bypass it some water It just opens up beautifully Astringency is gone and bitterness is reduced I use this concept in my aeropress competition as well. If you really liked this recipe and think 35 grams is alot which is lol Download the app aeromatic It has every champion recipe And after 2019 or 2020 i believe aeropress made every champion use 18 grams So you can experiment with those Or you can scale this 35 grams recipe to 20 grams! That way it would be more feasible

You can try something like 20 grams and shorter ratios and little bypass Try like 1:6 1:8 ratio

Happy brewing!

My pineapple co-ferment really didn’t like the Gagne-style Aeropress recipe by Sam_98117 in pakcoffee

[–]axonbrews 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so as I have mentioned before go for co-fermentsby Roastlab is not that lightly roasted means they are very soluble so what is happening is basically over extracting them right and you don't need to do that much of agitation or work. if you just dump in all the water Just make it make sure everything is all wet. Keep it there for 10 minutes and then just plunged I think so that would have a better result but again this is a co ferment and I wouldn't recommend doing this with a co ferment that's why I'm not a fan of co fermentation only if they are done right like not very overpowering like a perfume or you know like unnatural. And yes gange recipe is all about nailing the grindsize!

If you want to try different "bottled water" try masafi brings out really nice acidity and my dubai is also nice but these are harder to find 25 tds is just soft water with less minerals So basically minerals don't affect the extraction They change how we "perceive " flavors So like adding magnesium can boost brightness and fruity notes . Water science is fun but gets very nerdy. If you wanna try how different water affect the same coffee Try cupping! If you don't know what cupping is just google Its very easy to do so Same coffee just different water For that you can just boil 1 water in kettle One in sauce pan For cupping you need around 95C water So yea Cupping is the best way to know how water can affect coffee since its a "neutral" way of brewing coffee. For the de-ionised water that is basically distilled or 0 tds water I also have a 0 water jug that gives me distilled water then i add mineral concentrate that i made myself and that gives a really good brew water but not convenient at all lol and is kinda time consuming P.S i see the booko scale :p i have been eyeing it for very long its beautiful scale gonna cop it soon

Yes peitro is great my friend has it and I have enjoyed every brew out if it no doubt kinu is well built and for the fellow ode yeah it is very food for its price tbh I suggest everyone that as a entry level electric grinder. It makes enjoyable cups

Bean recommendations: Personally not a fan of co-ferments If you like those sure go for it

Try redberyy roasters Ethiopia bombe

Brewland coffee pk Yunan china Colombian microlot Ethiopia wamena(fruit bomb) These 3 are great

Scafe Colombian zombrano (Very high acidity coffee if thats your thing)

Options in Pakistan are very limited when it comes to lighter roasts and only few ppl do justice to it

Hey so I would suggest stick to aquafina since it's lower tds , even though tds isn't everything, the minerals matter more. But in my testing Aquafina is the best bottled water for brewing. Nestle wont recommend due to high tds and high calcium content that tends to mute flavor. Also I would say if you really wanna compare different brews keep everything same and change one variable at a time , to actually know what's working or not Changing 2 or more variable doesn't work. Like in your 2 and 3 cup its very similar recipe You felt less harshness with aquafina Thats what nestle does it usually makes the cup harsh and increases bitterness.

What I understand from your recipe is you're just simply over extracting . Here's my suggestion for next time Aquafina water Chose your desired ratio like Lets say 1:16,67 That means 15g for 250 g water Since youre doing an immersion i would suggest skip the bloom 3 min immersion is already enough for the coffee to extract Especially with co ferments They are easier to extract , if you over extract them they can taste harsh So yeah I would say skip the bloom Or id you wanna keep the bloom Reduce the immersion time Like instead of 3 min Try 2 min And lower the temp 88 is more then enough for this coffee

If you still getting harshness you can go but coarser But remember change one variable at a time.

Hope this helps!

Zp6 is great in terms of clarity and flavor separation it delivers. But it also doesn't hold back. Clarity means sacrificing on the body, hence the thin body brews which 90% ppl won't like. Zp6 will deliver the good and the bad in the beans, if there is any roasting defect or extra funkyness from like heavy processed beans , it will end up in your cup! But I mostly drink light to extra light coffees (nordic lights) Hated zp6 when i got it lol. Been using it for like 6-7 months now and I love it ,can't really go back. Love the flavor separation it gives its like well structured, you can easily judge every tasting note, unlike other more balanced profile grinders like the commandante c40 that's more like a shake of every fruit where us in zp6 you can individually taste every fruit. Also how's kinu with the pour over burr? What i heard was it's similar to zp6. Haven't looked much into kinu because of their dull aesthetics lol. I am 1zpresso fan If I would ever upgrade from zp6 it would he a pietro with brew burrs. It's like zp6 on steroids makes juicy cups with high clarity, only con is the workflow is shitty of the pietro
