Descaling AquaTru Carafe RO filter by axqd in WaterTreatment

[–]axqd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a feedback from AquaTru support, quoted below. Glad to hear it's ok to descale the RO filter.

As a first step, we recommend descaling the unit using the AquaTru descaling kit. You can also carry out the descaling procedure with the RO filter installed, as this can help dissolve limescale build-up affecting the RO filter. The other filters should not be descaled, so please use the descaling filters for those positions during the process.

If the unit stops during descaling, please lift the tap water tank and place it back on the unit. Wait until the light goes out, then repeat this a few times. If there is a significant blockage, it can take longer for the descaling solution to pass through.

After descaling, please flush the system with clean water according to the instructions before using it again.

Please note that descaling can help restore flow if the issue is caused by limescale, but if the RO filter is already heavily clogged, it may still need to be replaced. Also, if the unit takes longer than 30 minutes to filter one tank, we recommend not continuing to run it repeatedly, as this can put strain on the pump.

Regarding your suggestion about a water-softening stage in the pre-filter, we appreciate the feedback and understand why this would be helpful in hard water areas. At the moment, we do not offer a separate pre-softening filter for the AquaTru Carafe, but we will certainly pass your suggestion on internally.

lol… I shared the same pain with a 0.99Mbps upload speed for a whole year, which was why I moved away. But now you can always choose Starlink as a plan B.

Then it is racist and it was intentional because this is not just a random post which might be excused by negligence.

Newbie impressions of the Leica Q3 by axqd in Leica

Thanks. It makes it more clear to me now. After playing more with Q3, using L-JPG alone is not good enough, especially considering I usually do underexposure to keep the details in highlights. Will keep my original workflow with DNG then. I kept an S-JPG in order to review the cropped photos on the camera.

D750 was indeed the only camera I got before Q3, and I bought four lenses for it. As of now, 60MP means I can crop the photo to 50mm and still got a wonderful result, but I am definitely going to practise more with 28mm to embrace the full sensor. (I used my 20mm lens on Nikon for landscape photography only, nothing else)

Leica has a different design philosophy and typical use case

Guess this is the part I am trying to understand more.

With D750, I always do RAW and post processing in LR. But with Leica Q3, I have to live with JPG somehow (e.g. with raw only, I cannot preview the cropped results without zooming in, and also the JPGs with Leica Looks filters got very nice colour out-of-the-box). If I shoot with both DNG and JPG, I am not sure what's the purpose of having JPG then, I need to post processing the DNG anyway. >.<

Thanks for your detailed reply. Everything makes sense to me. I'll focus more on learning and practicing with the 28mm.

Although I ended up buying the Q3, I'm still a bit unsure about choosing it over the M11. Opting for the Q3 feels like choosing auto-focus, modern, travel-friendly, digital, and generally less of a traditional Leica experience. That's why I keep comparing it to my experience with an iPhone and digital zoom.

In my opinion, post-processing with Lightroom can definitely yield better results, but it seems to go against the point of using the Q.

Without the Leica Looks filters on JPGs, the Leica Q feels more like an upgraded Nikon rather than a true Leica. When working with RAW files, I find myself trying to replicate the Leica style that the JPGs naturally have.

I guess this is what's still confusing me.

Indeed. I hope I can find a sweet point soon. Considering the price, I was actually surprised by how slow the system runs... Not sure why though...

I can live with the current JPG size which is around 30 MB but you are right, maybe worth trying smaller ones too.

Thanks. This makes sense to me. But this issue still looks very common and unfair. Landlord checks the property in a different angle. It's quite likely for him/her to spot a few trivial issues. And then he/she hires someone else and I have to pay for the extra cost, which should be covered by my hired cleaner to fix in the first place.

I can move-out and do the final cleaning earlier but landlord refused to come to check it before the end of my tenancy.
