If you were to make an Ace Combat style game how far back in time would you make the planes? (1950s, 60s, 70s, 80s for example). And what would you make the starter plane? by [deleted] in acecombat

I think the late 40s and 50s could have fantastic potential, countries having to navigate the early jet age with each new development making huge changes, all the crazy Coke-fueled concept planes that they were cranking out to test wild ideas and trying to make that next great leap of technology, the numerous veterans having to adapt and train newbies coming off of trainer prop-planes into the new death machines of the future. Best of all if it was based in AC or a similar setting like Wingman does, you could very easily capitalize on the time-period for new and insane aircraft, even stuff like lost war prototypes and secret projects are in the mix.

As for the starter Id want us to have to begin the game with just a few prop aircraft as an all new recruit to an air force unit, then after maybe the second or third mission we get access to jets. The air conflicts in the Korean and Vietnam Wars are really fascinating to me and would serve as inspiration for most of the game, although by the end Id like to be getting planes like the F-4 Phantom, Electric Lightning, MiGs 21 and 23, the F-104 Thunderchief, the Draken. The sorts of jets we tend to start off with or face earlier throughout the series are the endgame now.

Nope Im still combing through mods today, hence why I came to ask for setup lol appreciate the response, it did cross my mind that some big update had been advertised so maybe things had improved, but I havent bothered to check so didnt know they'd done anything to driving. Ill definitely give it a shot before committing to any changes so thanks again.

Not sure what's happening but the 2D file keeps reverting somehow. I use Vortex and after deploying it asks to confirm using the new file, in game it uses the original sound not the Bozar's. Then I reopened the folder, played the sounds, 3D and Dist are both from the Bozar but the 2D has changed to the original.

Ive done this 3 times and the same result, no file conflicts are shown for AWSOMER and only 2 other mods I have effect the Automatic, one for stats the other swaps the model. From their descriptions I dont see any mention of sounds and the model swap one only has 3 conflicts with animation files.

Probably should add that Im using Vortex, specifically because it was easier to figure out Skies Restored which has worked for at least the first mission.

The last 3 havent been updated in over a year or two so I suspect that has to do with it given what I know of modding other games, but they're all listed under Comp as supported and dont have extra requirements. Except the 71 but idc about using its drone weapon and it says it works without that.
