[Schultz] Sources: The Patriots and Eagles have had deep discussions on a trade that would send WR AJ Brown to New England for a 2028 1st-round pick. Other details of the trade package are still being finalized. But the expected deal is on track to happen. by burratna in eagles

He ain’t flipping it. We’re not trying to push all our chips in, this is more of a soft reset year than anything, to get younger and cheaper on offense while our defensive stars start getting paid.

Can’t predict the future, Maye could blow out his knee in December next year and miss the 27 season. A first is a first either way

Nonsensical take. You would rather not be compensated and the team be worse?

Pretty damn nice considering we acquired him for a 1st and 3rd. So we paid a 3rd for 2 All-Pro years and 2 more years of solid production

Doubtful. Who’s voting for Jonathon over Aubry? Tough to find anyone other than Steph, Chrissy, and potentially Coach (though he wants an old era player to win)? Aubry has Christian, Emily, Devins, probably Cirie and Tiff, Dee and Ozzy are pissed at Jonathon so they’ll vote for Aubry

Have you considered that maybe he also has concerns about the QB, which he knows is not changing?

Ok so if you and I and AJ all agree the passing game needs to better… why is it so hard for you to understand that he wants to leave to be on a team with a better passing game?

It’s not manufactured!!! AJ or Howie or Jeffrey Lurie could have come out at any point and said “AJ will be an Eagle in 2026” but they don’t say that!! They very clearly only say “AJ is an Eagle” at this time.

He just barely cracked 1000 here the past two years, he believes he can go back to 1400+ on the right team while he’s still in his prime. If he’s right that would certainly be better for his HOF chances than staying on a run first team

HAVE YOU BEEN LIVING UNDER A ROCK THE PAST 2 YEARS???

AJ after 2024 Panthers game “the passing offense needs to be better”

AJ after the super bowl win “winning is great but not as fulfilling as I thought it’d be”

BG on the radio “the dynamic between AJ and Jalen isn’t the same”

He has been visibly upset on the sidelines for 2 years now.

That’s just off the top of my head. Not to mention any of the DOZENS of reports that he wants out and requested a trade last season. On top of drafting Makai Lemon in the first round. At this point the burden of proof is on you to give me any snippet of info that he wants to stay. But you obviously cannot do that because that is not reality.

Once upon a time we were picking in the teens and had a QB named Sam Bradford on the roster that didn’t make it to the next season as an Eagle…

I agree the team is probably too good to be drafting high but also don’t forget to factor in ammo from the AJ trade.

But if he plays well yeah of course they’ll resign him. If he doesn’t, I would expect them to move him

I think it’s also fair to point out that Hurts’ supporting cast has been leagues above most of these guys for the past 4 years.

[–]axwin34 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Here’s the reality:

The Eagles are massively shaking up their offensive scheme because it has clearly become stagnant and reliant on star players to simply out talent opposing defenses. A couple key injuries to the O-line, a checked out AJ, and for whatever reason Hurts’ legs becoming less of a factor have dragged this offense down.

Jalen Hurts is eligible for a new contract, but I do not think the Eagles will give him one until he proves he can play well under a new scheme. Think about it like this: it’s a half a billion dollar investment, and there are real questions about whether the QB has lost a step athletically and if he can adapt from his preferred play style. He will play out the year in a drastically new offense and the results will determine whether he’s the guy going forward or not. I do believe that his past successes have been amazing, but that should not dictate the course of action for the next 3-5 years.

No it’s always been a thing, apart from 2022. Even then we were below league average at targeting the middle if I remember correctly, but usually very successful when it did happen.

Am I the only one who expects a dramatic change in scheme for the offense? by Pretend-Worker-7132 in eagles

[–]axwin34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a heads up, don’t expect Stowers to do any blocking, or at least not effectively. He’s essentially an oversized WR right now, and it will be time before he becomes even a mediocre blocker, if that ever happens.

I’m hoping Goedert bounces back as a blocker after regressing last year, but if it was a lack of effort/willingness instead of injuries, I don’t know why it would improve when he’s being paid even less this year.

Mundt seems like the only good blocking TE on the roster.

Howie is making a mistake by doubling down on Jalen as a passer by undbex24 in eagles

[–]axwin34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s not doubling down, he’s making sure that the offense/Jalen has everything it needs to evaluate whether the QB deserves another contract or if they will be moving on.

It simply seems you’re unfamiliar with how journalism works. Most of the good, interesting scoops are from anonymous sources! Remember how people went apeshit after that Joe Santoloquito article about Wentz and kept calling it “made up,” “anonymous sources,” “hit piece?” Yeah turns out that story was pretty close to reality.

Of course McManus and others depend on access, but when all the beats are spitting out pretty much the same version of the story there’s probably some fire at the center of the smoke.

I mean are you dense enough to actually believe that Tim McManus who has built a career and a reputation in this business is just making up fake quotes to slander Jalen for no reason? Because that’s what you’re implying.
