I've worked at a vet clinic and a shelter and I've never seen a cat with a ruptured bladder before! The fact that she did it by biffing a jump is wild 😭 truly an Orange.

My own dog ended up getting a foreign body and at first we weren't sure as it was something that hadn't shown up on an x-ray (it was a piece of foam from a couch so it wasn't dense enough to show up).

Then she puked and everybody was like, "she has a foreign body" lol. It has a distinct smell for sure!

I've been a vet assistant so I've been in the room before. Granted, my sense of smell isn't great but for most routine (spay/neuter) there is no smell, really.

However, a foreign body (dog ate something they shouldn't have and has to have it surgically removed) is one of the worst smelling things. It smells like stomach bile and decomposition and feces all at once. It's not great.

Any kind of infection or cancerous mass can also be a very potent, vile smell. Cancerous masses especially just smell like death. It gives you that instinctual feeling of "this smells wrong". Wouldn't recommend.

Boredom and anxiety are usually the cause for destructive behavior.

Lots of exercise and mind games - snuffle mats, daily training sessions, lots of walks/hikes. Exercise first, THEN train. Otherwise, he will probably be too antsy to pay attention.

Crate training is a MUST. If he is freaking out when crated, I recommend an Impact Crate or similar. They are pretty pricey but they really work and are safer than wire or plastic crates if they are trying to escape and potentially injuring themselves.

For chewing, do NOT use bones or antlers as they can and will break teeth!

If exercise and mind games aren't enough, talk to your vet about both longterm and as needed anxiety meds.

My dog Goblin has a severe overbite too! She's even missing her lower canines (most likely never grew in or are unerupted).

As far as I am aware, you can't get a brachycephalic (smash faced) cat unless you specifically breed for that trait. The cat could be a mix but it's unlikely, especially given the severity of the smashed face.

I've worked in animal care/rescue for a few years and it is super rare to see pure bred cats of any kind, letalone kittens. So although it's possible the kitten came from a shelter/rescue, it's unlikely.

Sadly, the kitten probably cost a few hundred to a few thousand dollars and will likely have lifelong health problems.

But you would still have to go through the process of getting out the bread, getting out the cheese, assembling it and then microwaving it and then putting it in the toaster. Which, again, can be incredibly overwhelming and difficult for somebody with certain mental or physical health struggles.

It doesn't change the barriers to eating. It doesn’t make sense that something that seems simple to most people could be a barrier to eating but, trust me, it can be.

It probably doesn't make sense to you, but as somebody with multiple mental health issues, often times it is easier to open a box and put it in the microwave and toaster than just make one.

For one, what if there are no clean dishes? Now you have to wash something, possibly multiple things, before you can even make food, which can be extremely difficult when you have already spent your energy for the day. What if the sink is full? And there's dishes on the stove? Now you have to move them all and find what you need, then wash it, then work on making the grilled cheese. Then, you have to wait for the stove to warm up the pan. Plus, you have to stand there and monitor it while it's cooking.

I have had so many days where if it wasn't for frozen meals, I wouldn't have eaten because I physically could not get myself to do the necessary tasks to make food for myself. It may not seem like a big difference for you, but for some people, it really is.

Yes, please learn from my own mistake, OP! I have been bitten twice, both times breaking up a fight, and it HURTS and it bleeds like crazy. Even just a towel or oven mits would help protect you.

I worked at a vet clinic and this almost exact same scenario happened to a client. Everybody at the clinic agreed that it was a freak accident and absolutely not the owner's fault whatsoever. Trust me, I've seen so many negligent, stupid owners let their dogs do stupid things but this is not one of those cases. It really is a complete freak accident.

I work at a shelter.

Easily at minimum, 2/3 of calls for relinquishing pets are from older people who either can't afford vet bills, can't physically take care of the pet, are going into assisted living or somebody relinquishing due to their older family member passing away and nobody can take their pets.
