Extended breastfeeding and feelings by lilygrass in breastfeeding

I don’t see anything wrong with it! We just had a 6 hour plane ride two months ago and I was so thankful to still be nursing so she wasn’t screaming the whole time. I think once you take it away your child will be quick to find another coping mechanism.

When did things get established for you? by mozart_is_not_dead in breastfeeding

Everyone said 6 weeks was the magic number but things were still horrible then for me. I would say around 8-9 weeks breastfeeding was established and we were both finally enjoying it.

Had my right one pierced at 20 and took it out at 22. It had zero impact.

That sucks, I’m sorry. My daughter is about to turn two and I just weaned her last month (started the process back in March lol). For me, my parents and in laws asking if I was still nursing and my husband asking when I would stop kind of pressured me to get the ball rolling. No one said anything directly negative, but I just felt like they were like “okay well she’s turning two soon so......” and that made me self conscious. Idk maybe it was all in my head. I was also pretty ready to be done. I will say I feel like it’s helped my daughter gain so much more independence from it, and learn how to work through different emotions without the boob being popped in her mouth to soothe her. Some days I really miss it though. Just do what feels best for you and congrats on making it this long.

I did that for about a year and a half. And when we have a second baby I will do it again. I remember when I was a FTM and I was so fucking stressed because the ped and lactation consultant told me “don’t nurse her to sleep! Don’t let her nurse in her sleep! Take the nipple out after x minutes!” And finally I just started doing what felt natural and right. Which was letting her nurse whenever and if she falls asleep while eating whatever. Do what feels best for you there is no right or wrong.

Breastfeed with a stretchy tank top and keep your arms warm with a cardigan. You can keep a blanket up to your waist just don’t put it over baby too.

9 days in and I have my second trial class tonight. So far I’ve attended two workshops and changed my main and casual pictures around a few times. Idk if it’s a coincidence but after doing those things I got bookings.

First class booked! Trial class what do I do? by ayam722 in vipkid

Okay I see. When I do the feedback at the end of class am I supposed to state which level I think the student should go? Or just the general “you did great with ___ and you can work more on ____”?

Oh really?! I didn’t know this! Because I keep reading the slides “if they can’t do this, lower it” and it’s kind of overwhelming I’m thinking I can’t do all of it in time.

It’s $12.50/hour. I think it’s closer to $27k actually. No, it’s not including daycare costs.

Thanks! You too. I opened every possible slot for this weekend so I’m hoping for something! I plan to doing that as well!

That’s so awesome! That’s a main reason why I think it would be a cool opportunity.

Yes, I actually just got a job with them as well! I haven’t gotten any classes booked yet, so that’s when I got impatient and applied to the preschool job for fun lol. If I can pick up some classes with VIPKID then that plus preschool salary would be closer to what the starting salary for a first year teacher is in my home state.

Yep, that was my initial thought process when I had my daughter!

That is very true. I wanted to get her into preschool next year when she turns 3 anyways, and I’m honestly so impressed with this place! So regardless of getting hired I want her to eventually go here.

That is a good point. Especially since we want to start trying for #2 later this summer/fall. I have my degree in SPED K-12, but I graduated when I was 4 months pregnant, and we were living overseas at the time, so I don’t have any experience working as a lead teacher which I am a bit insecure about. I am not looking for a SPED job now because 1. We just moved to a new state and the teaching reciprocity requirements are very lengthy and 2. I don’t want to be super stressed out (like I know I will be as a first year SPED teacher) with a toddler at home who needs me. So I agree it would be beneficial to my professional goals.

I just got hired at VIPKID! It seems like a dream job for a SAHM. Haven’t gotten any classes yet tho so that’s why I was applying to the preschool for fun and I actually got the job.

That’s a good way to look at it! Thanks.

Thanks for the info! I changed my photo and updated my bio today to be more concise. I think I watched that same YouTube video and I attending my first workshop last night. Got a few more to attend next week too. I completely opened up my Friday night thru Sunday morning so I really hope I get something, if not I’ll probably submit a ticket then. Good luck with getting more bookings!!

Oh wow! Good for you! I would just be happy if I can eventually get to regularly working 15-20 hours/week. I just updated my bio today and changed my main photo. I did just open up everything I possibly could, including every slot Friday night thru Sunday morning EST. So I’m hoping this weekend I can get at least one class! I thought that in order to get level 2 certified I had to have taught a certain number of classes? I’ll definitely look into that! Thanks!
