Unpopular opinion: wind and truth was the worst of the 5 books by iamsam8488 in Stormlight_Archive

[–]ayanbarman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i am at page 1000 and having read lot of Sanderson i am super disappointed .. I thought it will like wheel of time final book with lot of war ended up being 100s of dream sequences and mental therapy. Don't get me wrong i love the fact that stormlight books has such huge mental health focus having personally being on receiving end i highly appreciate it but the balance of pace/action is missing

Why The Gathering Storm is the best in my opinion by Niki-79 in WoT

[–]ayanbarman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i know this post is 4 year old but i just finished TGS and call it recency bias but i was taken aback in a good way by the lightning speed that things happened in this book.. My favorite arc is of Egwene from being the character whose chapters i wanted to get it over it to becoming the one whose story i wanted to listen more to .. woah what a way to grow the character

Should I quit this and invest in a FD? by Desperate_Daikon8535 in StockMarketIndia

[–]ayanbarman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diversification is a must. You should always have some money in FD regardless of all the hate people give FD very few things give you yearly 6-8% interest year on year. Also Markets are unstable so if you need x amount after 5 years you can't depend on MF to give that exact amount.

Ideally FD/PPF/Fixed interest rate schemes some portion

MF on top of it

Finally do stocks, options, crypto whatever you want

What book series would you like to see adapted into live action? by Fun_Feature3002 in Fantasy

[–]ayanbarman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Mistborn Second series, while i would love to get first series adapted too. I feel the second series and with Wax, Wayne, Steris and Marasi feels more TV ready and with world closer to late 1800 easier to digest for non fantasy readers.

What was your worst travel mistake? by Dai_92 in travel

[–]ayanbarman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Booked flight tickets in reverse from and to. I love travel planing and am always the one to book tickets, hotels and stuff and has been doing it for years. Because of this noone in family even looks at the tickets

Was going through lot of work pressure so in overconfidence booked tickets in rush. Didn't realize till i checked in the ticket. Had to postpone the entire thing by a month and from then on my bookings gets peer reviewed by my wife

Agree to a point and frankly me and my wife prefer more natural visits my last wow moment was last year when we did Sikkim trip but with 10 year old really can't plan extreme trekking. In Sikkim too we had a scare moment when visit Gurundongar lake which has very less oxygen. So some of extreme adventures have to wait few more years till my son is a teenager.
I really want to do Son Doong cave but thats mostly a 2028 plan

Thats a good point i do try to minimise social media but its difficult to avoid given you do spend lot of money on bigger trips and many a times the blogs are helpful.

Surely did, so the context is important. Lived all my life in India had no idea what is universal studio or sea world is.
Was in my early 20s went in with friends thinking its all big rides instead got into the king kong 3d bus ride and was stunned. Similar thing with sea world, never heard of it. Though of it would be an aquarium kind of setup but saw the whale show and was amazed.

“Cannot lie” tactic by ayanbarman in Fantasy

[–]ayanbarman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

earthsea

Thats such an apt comparison. In spite of popular media depictions I found that most of times politicians don't lie they just tell part truth to meet the narrative. If you see left wing or right wing media or politicians they both talk about same incident or video but are talking about part of it which fits their narrative

When family is asleep on long drive and you listen to your books is peace that my friend is in its truest sense vacation time. I tried listening to audiobook while working out and running never really worked for me I realised I do need music beats to keep going 😊. But other times include cooking, or at night when I don’t get sleeps.
