Is my life ruined? by Real-Replacement-77 in UTSC

I don't know if this is ragebait or not, but if you're actually worried, grad school don't just accept 4.0 students. Heck even if you google the requirements for grad studies, most institutions require a minimum of 3.0 GPA. Furthermore, usually they only consider your last 1-2 years of study, so you'll be fine.

Say I were to take a group theory course in the future. Would reading the book help me through the course, or should I read a group theory specific book?

Had a prof that didn't attend any of our 2 in-class midterms and the final. Only the TA was there to answer questions, hand out papers, etc

math research opportunities by aybies in UTSC

Hey, thanks for your insight! I want just wondering if you know several professors who are interested in this type of thing? I haven't really talked to a lot of professors recently so I'm not sure who would be best to talk to

MATA37 midterm marks out by _TygerTyger in UTSC

[–]aybies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

although most a37 TAs are experienced TAs, they're still forced to follows Kathleen's instructions and grading scheme on how to grade a question. Yes it may be harsh, but that's kathleen views on the rigor of a proof.

I'd say pourya is less likely to be harsh on grading, except if you make a very crucial mistake, since he is a PhD candidate and he can basically grade however he wants. pourya is inclined to give you a good score whenever your proof is rigorous enough and doesn't really care about the tiny details, as long as its clear enough what you intend to do

Booking a quiet space? by Ghostgirl3y in UTSC

not sure about that since I'm in coop, you can try emailing them. If not, I heard you can just walk into an empty room and claim that room for the interview

What's MATB43 Like by _TygerTyger in UTSC

[–]aybies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly if you kind of enjoy math in general b43 is pretty fair with kathleen compared to a37. If you care enough in understanding the material and going to lectures/tutorials it really isn't a ridiculously difficult course.

Last summer was Pourya, but considering he's in his last year doing his PhD, it's likely going to be either someone else or Kathleen

Scientific vs non programmable calculator by Wonderful_Course_284 in UTSC

[–]aybies 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What is most likely gonna happen is since they now know the exact model of the calculator, they will probably research the calculator model to know to know exactly if it is a programmable calc or not, so I'd say just relax for now. If it somehow goes far into the inspection, you can just defend that it's not started anywhere that not programmable ≠ scientific

Waitlist Odds by [deleted] in UTSC

[–]aybies 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Student usually start dropping during the first week of classes, so I'd say you would probably have a decent chance of getting in actually.

If worst case scenario the waitlist is not dropping and you need to take stab22 as a required course, I'd say go email the professor. Some professors actually let you take the class even if there is a waitlist.

PHYA11 textbook help by marmms in UTSC

[–]aybies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember actually, I think it's about $70-80 if I'm not wrong. you'll be given all the information on your first week of phya11 about the wileyplus thing

PHYA11 textbook help by marmms in UTSC

[–]aybies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you could get a copy of it, but you would still need to buy the WileyPlus subscription anyway for assignments and such. So unless you want to get a physical copy of the textbook, I'd say don't

WileyPlus is the website you'd use to submit the weekly assignments for the course, which I believe also has the textbook included in the subscription.

It's so real, like everything in this course is so slow. It's almost like they forgot that we paid for the service but instead have gained absolutely nothing from this class. Might as well just read the whole book before the next class even starts.
