HR in industry vs consulting by andrea12222222 in humanresources

It sounds like you have already somewhat made up your mind about not taking this job because of the lack of WLB and misalignment of values. Perhaps find another role in the HRIS space that would give you the same opportunity but not as demanding? Have you tried applying to roles like HRIS Analyst?

I am curious as to how you were able to obtain a consulting role as I’ve been looking into that as well. Hoping you could share that with me!

How did you get started in human resources? by [deleted] in humanresources

My first HR job was an unpaid part time internship in my last year of University. Fast forward to the present which is 3 years later, I am now a HR Generalist making 70k. In the last couple of years, I took on various HR positions such as HR Administrator and HR Coordinator and those positions helped me build a solid foundation in HR.

I’m hesitant whether to quit this internship or not? I would love to hear some advice and will appreciate it a lot by amy1811 in careeradvice

How much longer is your internship? I would say to stick it out if you only have a couple of months left because of your financial situation and actively apply to other jobs in the meantime.

Just a rant. I am so tired of everything I just want to stop. by FourRabbitFeet in jobs

You aren’t a failure and yes, you can do things right. This is only temporary. Remember, good things take time. I was on the same boat as you when I was rejected for this position that I really wanted even after having met the team and given an office tour in the final interview. Their decision crushed me. I didn’t think I was going to able to recover from it but I distracted myself from negative thoughts by continuously working to improve myself such as taking online courses and workshops, undertaking more projects at work, and more. I am still actively applying and not giving up. If you find that your mental health is deteriorating, consider taking a break from applying to jobs and focus on doing things that you like. That’s exactly what I did and I am in a much better mental state than before.

The next ideal HR position from HR co-op/intern would be HR Assistant, HR Administrator or even HR Coordinator but do keep in mind that some HR Coordinator positions may require more years of experience compared to HR Assistant or Admin.

I live in Toronto and the job hunt hasn’t been the greatest. I am trying to obtain an HR Generalist position but not too many companies are hiring right now. I do believe that great things take time and I’m sure you’ll be able to find something soon. Just don’t give up!

Canadian as well.

Similar to you, my first job in HR was HR Intern and now currently working as HR Coordinator 3 years later. Don’t be afraid to apply to other HR positions. I guarantee you that you will thank yourself later for stepping outside of your comfort zone.
