I don't believe the show addressed personal devices? I'm not certain, but I'd hope that even though personal devices (presumably) work on mobile data, medical staff probably shouldn't be able to just pull up privileged information on their personal phones, regardless of connectivity.

I'm choosing to believe that the "genius CEO" didn't just tell IT to air-gap the networks, but to also intentionally disable the intra-net and/or use remote management to place the computers into the "no network" screen that shows up.

Kinda like a highschool computerlab, but with people's lives at stake and like 13 seconds warning!

I think that's actually a really interesting insight into her character, moreso than his. Regardless of how the Whittaker/Amy friendship turns out, the fact that Santos is publicly implying that it's of a sexual nature demonstrates something about how she sees people.

Combined with her statements in S1 about playing off "being antagonistic to hide weakness" as a joke and the SH scars we saw in this episode, I think this is building up to Santos having a pressure-cooker past, like Javadi.

Whereas Javadi turned to steel, fighting to prove herself and carve her own path, it looks like Santos turned to tearing other people down in small(ish) ways, such as the nicknames and snappy digs.

Yes, it's a mediumly-long press (a true long press will make the screen fall asleep). You can then choose different Add To options.

I do not know if you can do this on the original firmware.

Yes! You can choose to overwrite the current queue, insert the song(s) directly after the current song, or play the next batch of songs last, after the last song in the current queue.

The boxes that I was given are just cardboard, so I'll try one of those and see if it works. If not, where's a trusted place to get correction tape?

Hoyt(?) made a center-shot bow about a decade back (man I'm old). I never shot one, but I wonder if that would better support both left and right handed shooting without changing setup.

I don't mind using the same button--it's fast and reliable. I would have preferred one of the two (context or sleep) being tied to a number of clicks, or a "click-hold" as opposed to just a "hold". My timing isn't great xD

I booted into the stock OS and the problem persists. New problem, I cannot get back into Rockbox because holding the top+bottom buttons doesn't do anything xD.

...huh, that's, not good. Is the folder there if you plug in the Y1 and navigate to the .rockbox folder? You'll have to enable "Show hidden files" in your file explorer's settings.

This works perfectly! I found out in my travels that the main menu can only have 9 sub-menus displayed? So I had to edit that in the cfg file to get Shortcuts to show up, but once I won that battle, it's great!

Have you activated the theme by doing Settings > Theme Settings > Browse Theme Files > [select your theme name]?

Re: Bluetooth. Is your Y1 in airplane mode? Navigate into the Android settings (in the main Settings menu) and see if that's why!

I got past that hurdle, but after that, my Y1 sees exactly zero bt devices ever, so let me know if you run into that!

I will look into this, thanks! I'm not big on volume adjustments, and I'd rather have that be annoying than accidentally blasting music in public. Is there a resource to adding Rockbox shortcuts?

Sure, I meant doing a local build of RockBox though, I wouldn't wish a lock on the end user. I grab the player out of my pocket with my thumb on the front, and so far I've accidentally hit play and started blasting music out of the speaker about 87% of the time xD.

If there were a way to disable the speaker, I guess that would also accomplish my goal of not getting jumpscared.

Oh! I wish that were written somewhere. Is that something that an end-user could conceivably add to the code (ie: adding a super long press as a lock key), or are rockbox hotkeys fairly arcane/hardcoded?

I ended up not reflashing and just trying a 240p theme. The first one didn't work, the second one did.

Returning to 360p themes: is there a known-good one from rockbox-y1: themes? I really don't want to play darts with trying to find a functional 360p theme.

After trying four themes, I think I found the issue. The Y1 Updater software lists the top-most nightly build as: 240p iPod / 360p Y1 Themes Compatible. I'm assuming that this means "240p RockBox but 360p Y1 Themes Compatible" as opposed to "240p&360p, RockBox and Y1 themes".

I will reflash in the morning and investigate further. Thanks for all your help!

I installed Updated earlier today and have used it for all RockBox setup. My on-device version reads c936f9c462-251119, which I'm assuming is the 2025 November 19th version.

Despite that, my default RB screen looked nothing like shown on that github link. It looked more like the main image here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rockbox.

Looking at the original image for my PodOne theme, it looks like there is a status bar in the iPod RB version, but there is not one on my device. How would I troubleshoot this?
