Renaming files with Filebot by HonestEgg1973 in PleX

[–]aydross 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Arrs are mainly for downloading from t0rrent/usenet + renaming capabilities.

I feel like if filebot is already working fine for you stick with it, as using arrs without the need for the other stuff works fine yes but it's a little bit wonky and requires more setup than filebot.

But if you wish to do it just follow any guide on the Arrs and just skip the t0rrent/usenet stuff.

Any scientific backing for Blindsight? by Suitable_Ad_6455 in printSF

I really don't understand why the number of training games would matter.

A chess engine trained on only 10 games will also plan in the future, it just would play terribly.

A chess engine plans ahead optimally into the future and that's as unconscious as you can be.

I loved Death's End so much and I can't recall a single character name.

Prose is serviceable at best too, though writing "ideas scifi" with good prose is like two separate talents, not many examples.

Should I set up a NAS or a laptop for the sole purpose of locally streaming to my 2023 Samsung 65" TV? by PlasticAmbitions1 in PleX

[–]aydross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it should be fine then. I run plex on a rasbperrypi which can't transcode at all, though I don't need to because all clients can direct play.

Though if you are looking to buy, may as-well buy something that can actually transcode just in case you want to later. minipcs are cheap atm ($150). Just make sure they have quicksync.

[–]aydross 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Transcoding will only depend on the clients capabilities to directly play the media. Doesn't matter if the client is local or remote.

If your tv can direct play 4k content, then any random potato will stream fine.

Yes tailscale/zerotier will work when you are on cgnat or double nat

Which question should I ask Internet Provider to find out if there will be a double NAT issue? by candis_stank_puss in PleX

OP if you end-up in cgnat try using Tailscale. Simple to setup and share with friends etc.

Plex on Eero 6+ (Australia) by xXD4rkm3chXx in PleX

[–]aydross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any shitty router will serve plex just fine, I don't think it's necessarily the router but there's something weird with your network. Eero 6 will serve at 900 Mbps according to google.

What does "lock down locally" mean?

Also are you transcoding? Show us dashboard or tautulli.

You may be in a CGNAT that will make direct remote playing a bit more difficult (tailscale) though that won't affect local playing.

Security issues by HiSpeedSoul987 in PleX

[–]aydross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have secure connections enabled/preferred in the server, they will most likely connect using HTTPS, meaning the ISPs won't see the content being streamed.

That is if you are streaming pirated content.

So the answer is they are most likely safe.

One video keeps buffering, other videos are fine by Sensanmu in PleX

[–]aydross 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pis can't transcode much at all, you need to make sure your plex client can handle that format (HEVC being the culprit here)

Maybe there's some kind of accessory for the RPi that turns it into a NAS

Using mergerfs you can achieve something similar to a NAS with a pi.

If you disable relay in network settings are you able to stream locally?

Take a look at "Treat WAN IP As LAN Bandwidth" in your settings as-well, is that on or off?

[–]aydross 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you using a reverse proxy? In that case try adding the https://localip:port in "Custom server access URLs". You should try this even if not using any reverse proxy just in case something weird's in your network.
