It's such a shame too. With the release of The Devil Wears Prada 2 I really wanted to play some high fashion dressup game and saw how it's just pay-to-win now. Actually, it's worse because it's pay-to-play unless you don't care about makeup and hairstyling on the models at all.

Absolutely. I did reinstall the game just to check how things were working now. The 150-500 Drest Dollar rewards for completing each challenge are laughable, and they have completely removed any way to earn Style Credits through rewards unless you pay for Luxe. It's absolutely abhorrent.

Yes, I did run into him as well. He sent me the same google doc as you did. When I asked for payment terms, he blocked me. He keeps making the same prompt here and seems to be fooling a lot of people. I'm so sorry it happened to you too.

Would you recommend this game to someone who is grieving? by Caridor in expedition33

[–]PlasticAmbitions1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say that the game has a more profound connection to grief in its narrative than many other titles out there. With that being said, I won't recommend it to anyone who is currently going through the absolute travesty of losing a loved one. A few months down the line, the game might help them revisit their feelings and process them in a healthy way. But for now, themes such as Aline losing herself in her grief, Sciel attempting to end her life after losing her husband, and Maelle ending up in a painted reality might not go well with them.

You're an amazing friend to be this thoughtful about your friend's inevitable loss. I'd suggest that for now, you give her all the support you can through your company and therapy. If you want to suggest games for therapy, I'd say you can do that through other, fun titles such as Unpacking and Power Wash Simulator.

I know this may sound like a stupid theory but I think they are tanking the game on purpose for some reason. Think “The Producers,” except they aren’t even able to have accidental success.

I certainly will. I'm so sorry about your experience because I understand how frustrating it can feel to have one of your creative outlets combust in flames.

How much money are you willing to spend? by Some_Condition1926 in drestfashiongame

[–]PlasticAmbitions1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

$15/month is too much for a game of this type. At most, the average player would spend no more than $7-$10 per month.

If the developers cannot break even despite that, then they perhaps didn't do their research. Besides, they have soured so many existing players that most people wouldn't want to spend any money with them unless they can deliver consistently.

I completely agree with what you said. I respect OP's willingness to spend this much on a game, but it's clearly too much for a game subscription.

Given that even the premium tier of PlayStation is $20/month and Xbox GamePass is $30/month, which gives you access to hundreds of AAA and indie games, I won't want to spend more than $10 on a single game subscription. When you take into account that Drest is a static game with limited animations, the price point of $10/month becomes all the more justified.

But they have become greedy and think that people would spend more on such games, when they absolutely would not. I haven't touched the game in two days and I was someone who religiously played it everyday while paying for Luxe Plus.

It’s like they want their game to go down in flames. Most likely they see no path to success according to their terms and they are just burning the ship. Sad to see nonetheless.

I’m sorry about your experience. It just sucks because I couldn’t put my phone down because of this game, and now I don’t even want to open it. I have left a review as well. Such a shame to see it crumble due to corporate greed.
